Explorer left me stranded today.... noticed yesterday the steering was acting funny. this am i woke up to go to work and i could not turn the steering wheel at all. there was a warning about the steering and that it was turned off by the car.. tow truck is on the way... any history of these...

Im guessing that this is what it had to be... water burning off... still have not been able to recreate the original problem... Car has been to dealer for a oil change and a check up and nothing was found to be wrong... I also just got back from Bowling Green, KY and i towed my 87 Buick grand...

Yes i did do a search and nothing on 2014 explorers.. My gas/fuel gauge has been acting really stupid... saying that im outta gas most of the time.. Never says that i have more than i do... Only less. Any TSB's on this one?? Thank You all in advance, Richard

"Not in Park" been getting this message every once in awhile when i park and put the shifter in park. "not in park" so it wont let me turn the car off. I shift it back to drive then back to park and it goes away. I did a search and came up with nothing... anyone else experiencing this...

I agree 100% that its the unibody not the motor for the 5k rating.

I feel the same way...The X Sport has plenty of torque... Plus im running a LMS tuner. I have a tow tune in there i can use. Im sure it shuts overdrive off automatically just like the tow button does. The LMS tow tune is way better than the stock tow button Im sure...

Yes i have a brake controller installed Why do you say a tough pull? I have a X Sport that has been tuned. I have way more than enough power to pull 5,000 lbs. I think the concern here is, no frame... Unibody. Just curious to see what people are pulling and how close to the rated limit.

I cant use a tow dolly, would be nice if i could tho. Its a historic vehical and i need it on a flat bed.

Has anyone towed anything at or above the rated 5000lbs? I have to take a car from Detroit to Tennessee and the car weights 3200. Not sure what a trailer will weight but I'm sure i will be at the 5k mark... Should i have any concerns. I have a tow tune from LMS I'm gonna run. Thanks...
