Got mine off by turning it counter clock wise, need something to hold it still, i used self made tool to grab 2 of the 4 bolts holding the fan.

Keep the car and fix the issue, all the gaskets can be replaced with quite simple set of tools, though it will require some effort. Gasket kit for whole engine is around 100$, top side gasket kit around half of that. Edit: the car looks great!

Autozone seems to have them, whole backing plate is around 90$ from ECGS, see fordpartsgiant and amazon too with search word ford 8.8" dust shield or backing plate.

If you know exactly what you want, OEM cams can be welded/grinded by certain machine shops to match the specs you desire, if no suitable aftermarket options are available. This might not be the cheapest option, also i am not sure how common this is in U.S. I'd make a call to machine shop(s).

As long as you don't mix up different coolant types, you should be fine, you will just have less effective coolant. If you mix up different types of coolants (propylene glycol \ ethylene glycol) you might end up having gel like substance which naturally will fully or partially block coolant...

valve cover gaskets are usually easy fix, but can you remove the valve covers without removing the upper intake manifold (is it on the way?)

Oil and filter change at 166k miles, next one at 169-170k. Also noticed some oil? leakage from somewhere around the top of bell housing, couldn't see up there too well. After driving for a while all reservoirs seem full and nothing is leaking so, meh.. ?

Check all fluids, if everything in engine is 10000 miles old, i don't see why not. Edit: i change oil every 3000 miles :)

U joint and other grease points, grease 'em before you go. See if your leaf spring shackles are still ok, they tend to get crusty. Have had few alternators go bad, during my ownership of the car, though rarely people have spare on stand by (they're very easy to replace btw).

Whatever the life span of the old hose might have, that worm screw band will be there for that time and it will hold. I have it fixed, it's not leaking, but i will have to visit that part of nonsense land sometime in the future, will have to find right diameter hose then and completely replace...
