    2016 Platinum reliability

I have nearly 70K Miles on mine-I bought it new. It has been the most trouble free vehicle I've ever owned.

    Rear Suspension Toe Link Recall

I got no print out for my four wheel alignment. It just states it was performed in my paperwork. My invoice states "replaced rear links and four wheel aligned as per 19S17".

Warranty on Ford Battery? 2016 Exp Sport

My battery was replaced ~ 30K miles. With all of the sensors (e.g. tail gate opener, doors, auto start, etc.) , it really didn't surprise me.

    Squeaky folding exterior mirror

OK, So, my driver's side mirror has made a heck of noise while moving into place pretty much since I bought the vehicle. It sounded like something was rubbing. It didn't do this every time, but sounded pretty bad when it did. Some times it would go into a ratchet mode while trying to get into...

3.5L Ecoboost Owners - What MPG are you getting?

I just use the on board computer. It shows 18.8-18.9 for ~ 70% HWY 30% In Town. As a data point my 09 FWD Edge got 19.8--19.9 for the same driving. I don't remember the numbers but feel sure the Ex is several hundred pounds heavier plus it has AWD. I didn't pay any attention to the mileage...

Does anyone actually love their 5th gen Explorer?

I also love my 16 Platinum with zero issues to date at a little over 30K miles. It is my opinion you should get the exhaust recall performed. This is based on a conversation with my local Shop Manager. I told him I have had no issues with exhaust gases but he told me to get the recall performed...

Newbie on this forum with a question for you

Nope, I'm not sure what the cause of this characteristic is. It could very well be ABS self check. This is good information to know. I wasn't concerned about this, but now I really have no concerns. Thanks for the information.

Newbie on this forum with a question for you

Mine does this occasionally. But, it doesn't do it in what I would call accelerating normally. I've never had it happen this way. It only happens when I first shift into D and then give it little to no gas. Then, when I do give it some gas the issue goes away. So, the issue only lasts a few...

    What the..? Any guesses?

Are you sure you had your foot on the brake before hitting the start button? What you describe sounds pretty normal for hitting the start button w/o your foot on the brake.

Good question. I'll try that, thanks.

    Adding rain sensing wipers??

The only time I adjust mine is when I have a layer of water on the windshield from a morning dew. Then it just takes any kind of adjustment to get a swipe to remove the dew. After that it will continue to swipe each time the dew comes back. The ghost wipes are more of a nuisance than an issue...

Ford offers free repairs to 1.4 Million Explorers - Exhaust

I had the voluntary recall performed om my MY 2016 a couple of weeks ago. I've never had any issues, but my Service Manager recommended it, to ensure I don't have future issues.

Treadwear Issue with Ventus S1 Noble 2 Hankooks

I had to replace the Hankook tires on my 09 Edge and my 16 Ex at ~ 20K miles. I am not an aggressive driver, but I'm also not slow. I don't baby my ride. This 20K mile wear out is not acceptable, to me. However, I just replaced the things with Michelin's. Everything's fine after that.

Time to replace the '02 Explorer, do I get 2016 or 2017?

A lot of the negative comments about the 16's is due to MyFordTouch vice Sync3. I have a 16 (Platinum trim) and it has been the most trouble free vehicle I have ever owned. I have no issues with MyFordTouch. JMHO, TW

2017 Platinum external mirror glass loose

After looking at the video there are at least two tracks, fingers, what ever you want to call them. Each track controls the motion or range for that axis, to adjust the mirror. I haven't tried to push on the mirror but may just try that. I believe the drivers side has done this twice and the...

2017 Platinum external mirror glass loose

Yes, It's the mirror glass. The housings have no issues, at least not on my rig.The mirror glass, on start-up, appears to move side to side and up and down. If I can remember, I'll pay more attention the next time I go for a spin. Also, I have not taken the mirrors apart, so I don't know if...

2017 Platinum external mirror glass loose

Yes, Mine has done this a few times. So far it has been one or the other, but not both at the same time. When it happens it's like the mirror has gone off it's track and get get back onto it. It makes a slight popping noise and "stutters". It stutters until I change the orientation with the side...

Ford offers free repairs to 1.4 Million Explorers - Exhaust

I've never had any issues with my 16 Platinum, let alone exhaust issues. I really doubt I take mine in for this, just out of fear something else may get screwed up.

    2016 Transmission Shifting

So far so good with my tranny. I had an 09 Edge and the tranny in it worked fine as well. And, of course, I love the 3.5 TT. I really goes when I need it.

    Time for tires

My tires have about the same wear (actually a bit worse), but at 14K miles. I'm not happy with these tires.

    2013 Explorer XLT Moonroof

My (former) 09 Edge did this to me after I had it a few years. The fix was to spray silicone lubricant on the rails. I had to take it to the dealer's body shop to figure this out. They told me this is something that should be done every 1-2 years. When I got home I retracted the roof all the way...
