Does anybody know anything about AirBags ?

The airbag module will have to be replaced. When you have 1 airbag the module will be fine, but when you have 2 it fries. I replaced a set in a 95 Grand Marquis, and had to replace the module as well. You will also need to check the sensors, probably the same as the Marquis 2 in the front on the...

    Power steering Pump

I just replaced my Power Steering pump last weekend. It was not on an Explorer, but a 94 Aerostar 4WD. Same 4.0 as the Explorer. The pump had been whining very loud since I bought the van in November. I had never replaced one before so I was a little hesitant about doing it, but I couldn't stand...

    High Mount Brake Light

The bulb is actually a neon bulb (stupid Ford!!!) I have the 95 FSM on disc, and it looks like a pain in the a**. It talks about removing rivets (I hate when they use rivets) It also has a bunch of trouble shooting stuff for it. All of this for a stupid stop lamp (whatever!!!)

    Liftgate Adjustment

Are you leaving the lift shocks on while you are trying to adjust? The only adjustable bolts are the one's under the headliner. The lift gate will not shift though unless the shocks are removed first. Have somebody help with this because the liftgate is very heavy without the shocks in place.

    Battery Life Expectancy

I have a 95 Grand Marquis made 4/95 with the original Battery. Still going strong, I was going to replace it last fall, but now I am curious how long it will last. Have I got the record or can anyone beat this?

    Raw Fuel?

I pulled the IAT (Air intake temp. Sensor) to check it out for crud, because Ford decided on the Aerostar 4.0 to put it in the upper intake manifold back by the firewall. When I pulled it out, the tip of the sensor was covered in raw fuel? Should there be raw fuel in the upper intake. I am still...

    What was Ford thinking?

kps, I am glad the part #'s helped you out. If you need any more let me know. I got the FSM on CD from someone on Ebay. I won the auction for 19.00, can you believe that. I am in the process of lookinf for one for my 95 Grand Marquis. I have the FSM in book form for it, but the CD's are much...

    What was Ford thinking?

I need to change this post a little. I meant the IAT (Intake Air Temperture Sensor) I went back to the FSM, and it shows the IAT for the Explorer and Ranger in the plastic air intake tube, in front of the throttle body. If this is true that would be a fine place for it. I was referring to where...

    What was Ford thinking?

I don't no, on my 95 Grand Marquis it is in the airbox, before the filter even gets the outside air.

    What was Ford thinking?

What was Ford thinking, I am in the process of replacing all the regular sensors on this 4.0. All I have left is the 02, and the air charge (IAC). Go to change the IAC and it is not in the airbox where it should be, and where it is on every fuel injected vehicle I have ever worked on. I look and...

I have a 1994 Aerostar with a normal (not high) idle when it starts cold.

Thanks for everybody's help, replaced the ECT and solved the problem, plus seems to run much smoother.

I have a 1994 Aerostar with a normal (not high) idle when it starts cold.

Triton, I get about 330 miles to 21 gallon tank. Tac0meat I will have to consider that, I can just see my 5 foot wife cruising around the hills in that modded up Van. (HAHA)

I have a 1994 Aerostar with a normal (not high) idle when it starts cold.

tac0meat, it is really AWD. The emblems on it say Electronic Four Wheel Drive. It is all automatic you don't do anything but drive it. It has a Dana 28 Transaxle, and delivers 1/3 power to the front wheels all the time and increases it when it is needed.

I have a 1994 Aerostar with a normal (not high) idle when it starts cold.

Thanks kps36, I did install a new IAC. I was also wondering if maybe it could be the temperture sensor for the computer, the one mounted above the thermostat. Maybe the ECM is getting wierd info from the temp sensor. I do have the FSM on disc that is great. BTW if any of you need any info from...

I have a 1994 Aerostar with a normal (not high) idle when it starts cold.

Thanks Alec, yes I have disconnected the battery each time I replaced a new sensor. The van drives fine with plenty of power and never has died on me. No check engine light either. I am presently getting 17 MPG which I think is pretty good for the wieght of the van and the E-4WD system.

I have a 1994 Aerostar with a normal (not high) idle when it starts cold.

I think I have my own problem with my Aerostar. It is a 94 short E-4WD 4.0. I have only owned it for about 3 months, it now has 58,000. Since I bought it I have (New plugs, wires, PVC, cleaned MAF, changed all fluids, new thermostat, old one was sticking open, to try to correct idle problem...
