Ah yes, and it seems on further inspection of the 19 I have found the source of my voice coil rub. The magnet seems to be coming loose from the basket. There is quite a bit of play between the two.

Eh, not sure. It's installed in the car right now, just like it is in the picture. Probably will get some color matching carpet, it will look pretty nice then. It's much more inconspicuous that my old box. That 5 and a half cubes with 19inch sub facing up could draw some attention looking...

Built the box today. Will be finishing up tomorrow hopefully. Need to get some carpet that somewhat matches the car's interior. Can't wait to try them out!

SO i picked up some speaker terminals because I wanted my boxes to be switchable quite easily, but the connections on the back are quick disconnects. How do I connect wires to them without the quick disconnect? Can I just wrap the wire around it and solder it on? Or do I need to buy a few of...

And on top of that I just remembered something. one day a while ago I was listening to some music quieter than usual and all of a sudden the sub started playing relatively loudly and sounded like interference of some kind. Any idea what this is from. My RCA's are on the oppo side of the power.

Oh, awesome. Now I just have to wait till that voice coil goes out. Is there any way to tell which one is going bad? I tried playing the sub with them hooked up, but even with only one hooked up it still makes the noise for both coils.

Well I checked the ohms on both voice coils and each is around 1.6-1.7, which tells me both are fine, and also explains why setting the gain using a multimeter was bad news. That tells me I was giving quite a bit more power than I should have been. Hope the NINe.1 is okay. But how can I tell...

Is it safe to run on one? Also, do I just check the ohms on the coil to see which one is blown?

That's fine man, I want to try a sealed to start with, and if it sucks, I'll go for ported. If you jump on it those 13's are cheap as hell. Not sure how I blew it either. But at low volumes it's really distorted and when I press down on the dust cap it makes a rubbing noise. I will just play...

Well, I FINALLY got around to checking the voltage on the nine.1 and turns out I was overdoing it. I had the gain set at a little past half with 3v preouts and after checking voltage while playing a test tone at max volume a listen to usually I only have the gain set inbetween quarter and half...

Sorry to hijack but I have a question too. It's my understanding that throwing more batteries in to a car with stock alternator doesn't do anything except put more strain on the alternator, right? Seems to me more batteries would be worse, for a small setup at least, instead of just one. Now...

If it's worse on bumpy roads that tells me a wire is loose somewhere. Bouncing is causing something to hook and unhook. Check all your wires again.
