So I was on my home from school today, and randomly when i was trying to pull away from a stop sign the transmission wouldn't shift. I was doing 4500 rpms in first! I dont know why the ac made it make the noise either... but it did. My tensioner rocked back and forth violently and made a knocking rattling sound. replaced it and the noise is gone.

its the tensioner. when mine went bad the noise would stop if i turned the air con off. I also had a bad belt, you might as well also replace that while your at it.

When a cat starts to get plugged it causes a loss of power leading needing to have a "lead foot" which leads to bad mileage. On my dads ram he was getting 12 to 13 when the cats went bad, now he gets 17 to 18. It could be an o2 sensor, and if they have not been replaced then definitely start...

I haven't had a chance to calculate the mileage yet. Ill let you know after I fill up next if it helped with the mileage.

I replaced the t stat in mine and it fixed my problems. Took me about an hour. Probably could have done it in 20 min but I stopped and boiled my old stat just to make sure it was bad. sure enough it was stuck.

The bad mileage would make me lean towards cat not o2 sensor.

If you hear clicking it is more than likely your t case shift motor.

Mine drives like its warm. its just that the gauge dosent seem to register it quickly. As far as mileage is concerned i get about 15 everywhere. Just kind of resigned myself to the fact that I have to fill up everyday.

leave it to Ford to do something like that. lol

hmm I mine does something similar. I can drive about 40 miles before it gets completely up to operating temp, and i live in cali so its not that cold either

I second the Gibson. Ive got one on my 4.0 OHV, and love it.
