    rear saging, leafs?

I've got those on my X, work fairly well actually. My problem is while I was under it tonight fixing my trailer wiring I noticed that my shackle is almost rusted in half! so I need some advice on new shackles, I had considered fabbing my own but anyone have advice on the autozone universal...

    LED Lights

the only 194 bulbs that I've seen in LED were amber colored, and they are available at autozone for around $10.99 for two bulbs

How hard is it to do tranny seal?

umm....well.....I know it's probably unrelated to the lucas, but the front seal was leaking on my '92 and I popped a bottle of the lucas transmission stuff in it, two days later the seal blew out while my wife was driving it, lack of fluid led to it messing quite a bit up inside, after stuffing...

    Running Board rusty chaous

shouldn't be much more difficult than it would on a 1st gen, try this http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=171419

generally they work better when the wheel stays on.

thanks for the info, probably the stock rotors that have been drilled just aren't relieved properly then, at least I'm guessing that's why they crack, I've been looking at some aftermarket ones that are slotted/drilled.... sorry to hijack the thread, carry on :salute:

generally they work better when the wheel stays on.

BTW ryan how are the drilled/slotted rotors? I'm thinking about going that route on my '96 Mazda B2300, I've heard the drilled rotors can crack?

generally they work better when the wheel stays on.

I had a similar fun experience in a truck I used to own ('92 jeep cherokee sport) and it was after installing new brakes on the front. I was testing out the truck about 3 a.m. on some back roads, heard a knocking sound and then crash, sparkage, wheel outran the jeep by about 30 feet. Had to walk...

    Windshield Wipers Stopped Working

make sure your wiper motor has a good clean ground, sounds like it may be corroded. Even if cleaning the ground doesn't work it's another thing to try and it costs nothing, that solved a similar problem on my '91 :dunno:

1st gens with two tone paint jobs?

my parts truck is a two tone, with the weird fliberglass flare/running board combo, not a bad looking rig if it were still driveable you western guys are depressing me, so many nice looking 1st gens with no rust, that doesn't happen in ohio :(

    rear hatch door not shutting???

I had this trouble on my '92 before I sold it, spray some oil on your key and work the lock mechanism, then try to shut the hatch, something in the lock was binding and it wouldn't let the latch, umm...well....latch

Do you have a link? I haven't seen a set like that for the 1st gen, only the altezza lookin' things.

    Intake Manifold Spacer

sooo ryan, since you're doing the 5.0 swap any interest in selling your spacer? :p: BTW, I cut off my thumb 12 years ago, table saw blade through the lower joint, I ended up with a fused joint and lost the tip due to lack of bloodflow, tells you what kind of difference 11 years makes in the...

sounds like a bad solenoid (the one on the fender probably, not the starter)

    Exhaust help!

I agree with al, no need to gut the cats, if it comes to that point then do it when and if they plug up, no sense in doing it if the vehicle runs well now. That being said I have that system on my '94 XLT, it's a well made exhaust and fits perfectly in place of the stock using the stock...

    Need help with shocks

my '94 had a bolt in stud when I bought it, and I changed the shocks a few years ago it had loosened up and slopped out the hole in the radius arm, so I put in another new bolt in stud and welded it to the radius arm also, seems to have held up well. If it were mine I'd lay a bead of weld around...

    yakima rack, stay or go?

like the design of it, and the way it mounts to the stock luggage rack, I've been looking for some mounts like that for my rack. To make it look better you could fabricate a light rail for the front of it and put a few rectangular lights, that would give an illusion of it being longer and you...

    Mile Marker Manual Hubs?

thanks for the info, that's the conversion kit but it doesn't appear (in the photos) to be the one I was referring to, the warn kit I was mentioning has slotted holes in the keyed washer and 3 (I think?) set screws that lock the outer nut to the keyed washer to keep it from working loose (in...

    Mile Marker Manual Hubs?

looks like this is an older yet revived post, I've got the MM's on my '94 and they are a well made hub, don't look to be any different than the Warn's I put on my B2 several years back, I've had the MM's on my EX for about 4 years now. My only complaint is that my LF wheel bearing loosened up...

    Gas mileage.

On my '94 XLT (stock except 30 x 9.50's) going by the odometer it gets a good solid 14, now if you adjust for the tires (tire size calculator says my speedo is off 10%) then that adjusts to 15.4 Where is the big inefficiency in the 1st gens? Intake? Exhaust? Just a big vehicle with a v-6...

    diy radius arm bushings

I used a hammer and punch to collapse them, hammered old ones out, then bolts/washers to "press" the new ones in, and a piece of pipe with a bevel ground onto it was sufficient to swell the bushing in a similar fashion to the stock to keep from sliding. I hear ford has a tool that does this but...
