    Difference between 91-94

You sure about the cast aluminum heads??? Cus I'm a callin' you out on that. ALL heads on the 90 through 2000 model year 4.0l OHV (not OHC)were produced from cast IRON... not aluminum as you stated. The lower intake was aluminum... and the upper intake was aluminum in the beginning (changing...

    Aussie Locker.

Don't fret none... so long as you have the front hubs unlocked, you'll be fine. Yes, the rear is still gonna be a little "weird" when you first get to driving it with the locker on pavement, but once you get used to it, you will get the feel for how much throttle you will be able to "get away...

    Brake Problem in the Cold

You would be amazed where blowing snow can get into. Nothing better than getting to your vehicle after a blizzard and looking under the hood to NOT see an engine. Brakes are the same way. Snow will whirl and whip snow in such a fashion that it will get in there. This same effect can happen by...

    Brake Problem in the Cold

k, you say you were skiing... did you give any thought that maybe the rear drums were packed with snow? It does happen and gives symptoms that you're describing.

    94 Ranger TC lock-up problem

Sorry, I'm at a loss for now. I'll keep it in my head though and if I come up with anything, I'll post it.

    94 Ranger TC lock-up problem

It should be a woven cable going from the firewall to the top bell housing bolt.

    94 Ranger TC lock-up problem

Just a wild thought, but check the ground strap from the firewall to the engine/bell housing. Could be as simple as a bad ground (not hooked up by the transmission shop).

Well that sucks. I don't get out to Portage much anymore.

    lift help/ question

Yup, that's an axle pivot bolt. Don't know why someone would weld it other than maybe it was loose at some time and wore the hole out. Got an idea here, I'm in WPG every so often... if you want, I have a 6" in mine with 35's if you wanna compare and see if you're really sagged out. Let me know.

    lift help/ question

Welded on???? There shouldn't be any bolts welded on. Can you post a picture so we can see what you're talking about?

    lift help/ question

35's are the max??? Here I was looking at 38's! On topic though, the 6" lifts end up a little short when installed on an explorer. A 6" lift will net you about 5" when done. Give it a few years and a few hundred miles of hard trail abuse, and you will be lucky if you have 4". Replace the front...

dana 35 limited slip, or locker??

Another vote for the L/S! I run one in mine with 35's and it works great. Never broke a thing either! Granted, it's not a locker... but in all honesty, with a locker in the rear it's essentially a three wheel drive when stuck. A L/S just gets you that little bit more without being hard on...

New Battery Time..No more Optima Red Top! Hello, O'Reilly AGM?

Unfortunately, though they say they ship to Canada, they also state that "not available for international shipping". My other hurdle for Sears batteries is that Sears pulled almost all automotive from the Canadian market.

Solved A4LD manual lock up conversion

The three wires are simple. One (the middle one) supplies power to both solenoids when the key is on. The computer then grounds the other wires to engage the 3/4 and OD solenoids. If you want to override the computer, all you gotta do is tap into the two wires, install a switch (momentary or...

New Battery Time..No more Optima Red Top! Hello, O'Reilly AGM?

You think over $200.00 is expensive??? I priced out a battery at work from Exide (as we are a dealer for them) and almost crapped my drawers! click here ---> http://www.northstarbatteries.com/batteries/nsb65m.htm Our cost was $428.00 cdn for this battery! Needless to say, I won't be...

    Towing trans damage

um... why not just put the transfercase in neutral? The pump in the case will still work and the trans won't be turning. I dunno... call me crazy... but wouldn't that work?

    got any ideas?

Well, here's what i came up with. Not 100% satisfied with it, but it does keep me legal and they are only bolted on... so it could be considered temporary.

    got any ideas?

Well i spent the better part of today with a plasma cutter and welder "trying" to make a bumper to mount my winch. This is where it gets interesting.. I hit a mental road block on how to finish it up (no, I don't have access to a tube bender). I have the center the way I want it... but I can't...
