I've had my ST for about 2 months just wondering what all I can have the dealer fix up for me. I'm 65K miles.

The TSB's (Technical Service Bulletin ) are not the freebies, FSA's ( Field Service Authorization ) or Recalls are. I can get the list of which ever one, or both, that you would like but my source is down right now.

GT what?

both would be greatly appreciated !!!

how do the TSB's work ? I confused the two.

FSA/recalls are generally safety related issues and are repaired free.

TSB's are repair procedures relating to specific frequent repair topics to update and/or add to the info in the service manual to expedite diagnosis and repair.

I'll get the list for you when my source goes back online.

I had a 68 fastback, non-GT, many years ago. Wish I still had it. More recently my 68 was a Ranchero 500.

here's my toy no decent pics of it painted Ford true blue (dark blue)

Very nice ! !

The main one I would be concerned about it the infamous "6 spd tranny bump". I may still have the pdf, and # at home. If you don't feel a bump in the rear when coming to a stop, yours probably already had this done. It simply involves a dealer reflash.

I think I do expierence this. I thought it was the trans downshifting but it oly occurs if I actually come to a complete stop at stop signs lol. Otheriwise if I'm taking off in second I don't get that bump. So it's no damage just a computer thing ?

any more description on this so I can test it out ? Please get me that info :)

Site finally came back up this morning. Guess they think nobody does anything on the weekend ! !:mad:

question about these two.... I do notice that my a/c doesn't always seem to blow as cold as it seems like it should but wasn't sure if that was my imagination or not. Anyone else expierence this ?

Also I do feel some weird downshifting sometime when I'm coming to a stop and sometimes it wont shift down to first unless I come to a 100% complete stop so I end up taking off in second gear. Could that be this second TSB issue. What is our 6spd auto trans ?

lastly I do get a belt squeek when I'll floor it between the 1-2 shift. Seems like there was a TSB on this too but it says for the 4.0 and I have the 4.6 ???

Tsb 07-10-12 various driveability and a/c performance quality symptoms - 4.6l 3v 6r60

Publication Date: May 14, 2007

FORD: 2006-2007 Explorer
2007 Explorer Sport Trac
MERCURY: 2006-2007 Mountaineer

This article supersedes TSB 06-23-11 and 07-2-8 to update the Service Procedure.

ISSUE:
Some 2006-2007 Explorer/Mountaineer and 2007 Explorer Sport Trac vehicles equipped with the 4.6L engine and 6R60 transmission may exhibit various driveability and A/C performance quality symptoms.

ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Apply reprogram to 2006-2007 Explorer/Mountaineer and 2007 Explorer Sport Trac vehicles that may exhibit the following symptoms:

SYMPTOMS

Cold hesitation/surge
Long crank
Engine fan noise on cold start and A/C operation
High idle during warm up (cold engine)
Inaccurate Message Center average fuel economy estimation
Overheat indication at idle in gear in high ambient temperatures
A/C shutoff at idle in gear in high ambient temperatures
Lower than desired RPM during long deceleration
Install IDS or equivalent and ID the vehicle.
Update the PCM and TCM calibration using IDS release 48.13 and higher or 49.2 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2007.5 DVD. Calibration files may also be obtained at motorcraft.com. Since the TCM cannot be reprogrammed alone, reprogram the PCM/TCM together to ensure that both engine and transmission calibrations are updated to the latest level simultaneously.

WARRANTY STATUS:
Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage
IMPORTANT: Warranty coverage limits/policies are not altered by a TSB. Warranty coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part.

Tsb 08-24-4 driveline bump while braking - below 10 mph (16 km/h)

Publication Date: November 20, 2008

FORD: 2006-2008 Explorer
2007-2008 Explorer Sport Trac
MERCURY: 2006-2008 Mountaineer

This article supersedes TSB 08-4-16 to update the Service Procedure.

ISSUE:
Some 2006-2008 Explorer, Mountaineer and 2007-2008 Explorer Sport Trac vehicles equipped with a 6R60 transmission may exhibit a bump feeling while braking to a stop less than 10 MPH (16 Km/h). The following procedure will improve the bump felt while braking to a stop.

ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

NOTE: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPLACE THE MECHATRONIC UNIT. MECHATRONIC REPAIR / REPLACEMENT IS NOT AUTHORIZED FOR THIS ISSUE.

Install Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) / Portable Diagnostic Software (PDS) or equivalent and ID the vehicle.
Update the powertrain control module (PCM) and transmission control module (TCM) calibration using IDS release 57.11 and higher or 58.2 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2008.11 DVD. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraft.com. Since the TCM cannot be independently reprogrammed, reprogram the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) function to ensure that engine and transmission calibrations are updated to the latest level simultaneously.
NOTE: AUTHORIZATION DECAL NOT REQUIRED.

Verify that the TCM Calibration shows 8L2P-7J104-AC, (8L2P-7J104-CC for builds after 12/3/2007) part number after reprogramming is complete.
Select the following from the IDS tool, Toolbox, Powertrain, OBD Test Modes, Mode Level 9 Vehicle Info, TCM Cal Part Number.

Clear TCM keep alive memory (KAM) and adaptive tables.
Using IDS:
Open Toolbox.
Choose Powertrain.
Choose Reset KAM.
Then Choose TCM.
Using PDS:
Choose all Tests and Calibrations.
Scroll down the menu and Choose Reset TCM KAM.
NOTE: FOR PDS, RESET TCM KAM IS NOT THE SAME AS CLEAR TRANSMISSION ADAPTIVE TABLES, WHICH IS UNDER THE POWERTRAIN - TRANSMISSION MENU TREE.

NOTE: UNHOOKING THE BATTERY WILL NOT CLEAR THE TCM KAM. IT IS CRITICAL THAT TCM KAM BE CLEARED PRIOR TO RELEARNING THE ADAPTIVE TABLES FOR THE TRANSMISSION.

NOTE: DO NOT CLEAR THE PCM KAM.

Verify that the transmission fluid temperature (TFT) PID is above 175° F (80° C). If it is not at 175° F (80° C), drive unit approximately 3 miles (5 Km) to reach temperature.
NOTE: TFT MUST BE AT 175° F (80° C) OR ABOVE BEFORE PROCEEDING TO STEP 5.

NOTE: PERFORM ADAPTIVE SHIFT STRATEGY LEARN ON LEVEL SURFACE ROAD.

Drive unit to perform adaptive shift strategy learn.
Accelerate from rest with light throttle to 15 MPH (24 Km/h), remove foot from accelerator pedal.
Brake very gently to a complete stop (allow at least six (6) seconds).
Repeat steps (a-b) five (5) times in the dealership parking lot or similar setting.
Accelerate from rest with light throttle. The 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4 shifts occur at engine speeds between 1700-2000 RPM.
Continue to accelerate gently to 50 MPH (80 Km/h) or the 5-6 upshift.
Brake gently to a complete stop and hold foot on brake for at least ten (10) seconds.
Repeat Steps (d-f) a total of three (3) times.
NOTE: THE HARSH BUMP FELT WHILE BRAKING TO A STOP WILL BE IMPROVED. HOWEVER, SEVERAL DAYS OF DRIVING MAY BE REQUIRED FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO FULLY ADAPT.

WARRANTY STATUS:
Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage
IMPORTANT: Warranty coverage limits/policies are not altered by a TSB. Warranty coverage limits

What is our 6spd auto trans ?

lastly I do get a belt squeek when I'll floor it between the 1-2 shift. Seems like there was a TSB on this too but it says for the 4.0 and I have the 4.6 ???

V — 5-speed automatic, 5R55S
X — 6-speed automatic, 6R60

Check belt condition. Goodyear Gatorback's are good replacement belts.

great thanks a lot. Now do I take it to my local Ford dealer and tell them I want this work done ? I assume they can do it at any dealer ? What do they charge for TSB computer calibrations ?

Welcome.
Yes, just give them the TSB number.
Any dealer.
Better call and ask..............

That TSB #06-6-9 the ABS/Stability Control Indicator is lit up, I just started driving home the other day and it popped on. I don't put alot of heavy miles on my 07 ST - 16 round a day work, and around town. I've been worrying bout my coolant leak, and then this happens. The dealer wants $150.00 just to diagnose and the Auto Shop wants $80 Then what? Anybody have any idea what this is about before I get ripped. My girl seems like she's breaking fine. I've been a die hard Ford Truck gal for many years, and wanted an ST for awhile, but now I'm starting to think I made a big mistake with the ST.

It's a simple matter of pulling the ABS codes to determine if this TSB applies. You can BUY an ABS code scanner now cheaper than the dealer wants to do it. A shop shouldn't charge that kind of money to plug a scanner into the data link connector and tell you the code!

06-6-9 ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM / TRACTION CONTROL / ROLL STABILITY CONTROL INDICATOR (ABS / TC / RSC) WARNING LAMP ON WITH DTC C1440

Publication Date: March 15, 2006

FORD: 2006 Explorer
2007 Explorer Sport Trac
MERCURY: 2006 Mountaineer

ISSUE:
Some 2006 Explorer 4dr / Mountaineer and 2007 Sport Trac vehicles built through 3/16/2006 may exhibit an anti-lock brake system / traction control / roll stability control (ABS / TC / RSC light) warning lamp illuminated with diagnostic trouble code C1440 pressure transducer main / primary signal faulted. This may be caused by the integrated control unit (ICU).

ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure to determine if the ABS module needs to be replaced.

NOTE: THE BASE BRAKE SYSTEM CONTINUES TO FUNCTION PROPERLY.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Install scan tool, retrieve DTCs and record.
If DTC C1440 is retrieved, proceed to Step 2.
If DTC C1440 is not retrieved, this TSB does not apply. Proceed with normal diagnostics.
Replace the ABS module (2C219). Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 206-09 for Removal and Installation procedure.

Now, what coolant leak problem are you having?

Hi Steve,
Thanks much for your reply to my TSB-ABS query.
I think I know somebody who can scan for the code first. I feel like my dealer sees "Women" and $$. I will follow your suggestions and hopefully I can keep the repair shop out of this. I've got a 17y boy taking autoshop, so maybe we can get the ICU unit and replace it if that's the problem. I was also told there are wheel sensors that can get clogged with debree or malfunction and set that off too.

About the coolant leak - I've been seeing alot of folks here complaining they've got an irregular coolant leak front drivers side. I've got one too, and I can't pin down the exact location - I see corrosion on the bottom of my radiator, but not from the front or back. It's not a serious leak, and it is irregular - sometimes about a cup - other time a few drips. I've been keeping the coolant topped off so I don't have a heat problem, and was just about to have the system pressure diagnosed at the auto repair $145, when the ABS/Stability popped on. So I'm feeling a little regretful about my ST.

If your boy is taking auto shop in school see if the teacher won't use your truck as an instructional tool to do the ABS and Cooling system diagnosis.
Wow, if shops in CA charge that kind of money just to diagnose things I'm glad I live on the opposite coast!! I don't know of ANY radiator shop here that charges to pressure check a cooling system!
