Sport97's sport

During a long highway trip (total about 600 miles) I got a CEL. I think it was my car protesting taking it into ohio. Since about 30 minutes after returning to PA it turned off. I checked it, i wrote the code down, but i have to find where I put it. It was for a lean condition on bank 1 i think. It came on about 15 seconds after a foot to the floor highway pass(45mph to about 75mph) with a car load of people. It ran fine the whole time. I did average about 19 mpg. I usually get 20-21, but there was alot of traffic, and part of the trip I had 4 people.

If I have time this weekend I may pick up all new pads, ceramics. I can use that 40 off 100 dollar purchase at advance auto and get 4 ceramic pads for 60 plus tax. I can also get motorcraft plugs and wires, and a fuel filter for 60 bucks as well using the same discount with a different purchase. May use my tax return on those items.

Oh, and if i get the wagner thermo quiet ceramics pads i can get a 30 dollar rebate back. So I basically get ceramic pads all around the car for 40 bucks. The list price for those is 110 for all 4.

Although upon checking the parts numbers between the ceramics and metallics vary between advance and rock auto, so i'll have to call to confirm I will end up with the same stuff. Hopefully these brakes will last over 18k miles... If I can't get the wagner thermo quiet, ill probably get the wearever ceramic pads. They should be fine for my use.

Good stuff mate, gotta love coupon's!!!!

Good stuff mate, gotta love coupon's!!!!

Oh yea:thumbsup:

I figured out I don't need front pads, they are just a tad noisy. Got new ceramics on the rear, returned my autozone ones for a refund.

I will wait on plugs and wires. I went to check my rear diff fluid, but the pill plug is stripped. I currently have a small leak. I need to buy a new cover with a fill plug. Any suggestions?

Also I have a leak right at the seal at the back of the bellhousing infront of the transmission pan. Not big, but its definitely there.

Forum came through again. From what I see on here I can pull the abs sensor out of the rear diff and pour the correct amount of fluid in there because of my fill hole issue. Saves me the 85 bucks for the solid diff cover. I'll try to remedy my leak in the coming weeks.

Nothing new to update, busy with work. Got a new job starting next week so i will have much more time to do stuff. Got a price for 265/75 destination at's for 126 a piece and theres a 50 dollar rebate too, so decent price. My mechanic also said he would do shock installs for a ten a piece. I'm gonna ask about leaf spring installs too. If he can do those cheap too, it may be worth saving myself busted knuckles and a bunch of swear words haha

Hope to get my new tires this week, as the sale ends friday. I guess we will see how a 265/75 fits without a lift. I need to find time to throw my leaf packs on. I went to autozone, against my better judgement, to pick up the cheapo lift shackles so i could put this all together this week maybe, but the dude didn't even know what a shackle was, and they didnt carry such an item.

Well, pardon my french, but that guy is an a**hat. The website says they have it. There is a reason I don't go there for anything. They are all incompetent. I'm going to see if advance has it, i'd rather give them the business.

265's are just a little over 31" you should be fine especially if you're doing the tt/shackles. I have the tt and el cheapo shackles too :p: and am running 33's.

EDIT: Oh tell that guy to get a new job.

Trust me Glen, I would but they need to fire their whole staff too, manager included...

33"s on that small lift is nuts haha...
I will only be running the 265/75s for like a week or 2 until i get the 4 door pack w/ aal and shackles, and the TT on. They are close to a 32" but they are only like 10" wide, so I hope I'll be ok. Since ive already trimmed a bit of my fender flare out when I had 31"s on a wider wheel.

Yeah yeah but I didn't trim any metal :p: that's cool dude hopefully you wont have any issues til you get the lift done.

I went to get the tires, but he was sold out. He said come back tomorrow, and he since my lift isn't complete yet, that I can buy the tires tomorrow at the sale price w/ rebate, and just hold onto them and bring them back for mount and balance for no extra charge. That's probably what i'll do.

Sound's like good service from your tyre guy.

Yeah he is a nice guy. He even printed me 2 copies of the receipt so i didn't have to send my only original in with the rebate form, and his prices are great too. 4 firestone at's mounted and balanced for 535. I'm bringing them back to get mounted next week after the TT and shackles.

Now to stop procrastinating and get that stuff on. Those damn leaf packs have been in my basement since late fall.

Its alive! Rear leaf pack swap complete. I started at about 3:30. I stopped working for about an hour, so it took me about 5 hours, which woulda been less had i not lost a nut, and had a helper the whole time.

With a 4 door leaf pack, AAL, and lift shackles I got 3 inches in the rear, which brings me to 35-35 1/2 inches to the fender. And all I can say is wow. It rides 100x smoother than with the mono leaf. I'm pretty pumped. After work tomorrow I will do the TT, and bring it down to have the tires mounted/aligned.

TT complete. I only got 1.25-1.5inches due to my driver side bolt bottoming out. Its maybe 3/4 higher in the back. Barely noticeable. The AAL will settle a bit so it'll be level. Just got my 265s mounted. Looks good. Not too big, but noticeably taller than stock. I have an appointment for an alignment tomorrow at 11:30. Pics tomorrow.

Cool dude, congrats on the mods, can't wait to see it now.

Pics... It doesn't look much taller, but you can tell when you stand behind/beside it, or hop in it.

Looks really good Vince.

Thanks Glen. I love it. I already want to go bigger, but it stays as is for a while. Time to get some mud on the tires.

I now have a creaking sound coming from the front, I assume it to be the torsion bar, as it is new with the TT. Hopefully it goes away over time. I only really hear it when i push down, not when driving.

The spring bushings could use a grease, they squeak too.

You shouldn't have creaking sound coming from the truck after the tt. I would recheck your suspension. Could be the uca bushings causing that sound.

Looks really good, Vince!

I concur- my TT doesn't yield any creaks. I'l snoop around under there, something is worn, the TT probably just exposed it more...
