Mft upgrade

Not sure why. For the 3.0.2 upgrade I had to take it to the dealer but not for the latest upgrade V3.2.2. Just downloaded it from the site and into the Ex.
Anyone else getting the 'take it to the dealer' notice??

Peter

Hey Peter,
Mine has 3.0.2 as well, and it is saying I have to go to the dealer. I know the previous upgrade required certain owners to go to the dealer due to the possible "overheating" issue, but that recall has been completed on my vehicle. So, I'm not sure why I have to. And wouldn't you know that not one person from Ford, including the IVT reps here have been able to answer that question??? Frustrating that Ford still can't get their act together.

My vehicle spent 3 days at the dealer last week, and they didn't even know there was an upgrade!

I'm a doctor, and I wonder how long I would have my license if I operated my practice in the same manner in which Ford does???

If you have to go to the dealership for the upgrade take a look at the TSB and make sure you tell them you have some of the issues outlined in the TSB.

I went to get mine upgraded and they refused to do the update since it clearly states you need to have issues. After calling the Ford IVT team and them calling the dealer he finally gave in and performed the upgrade "under protest". I'm sure not all service writers are as **** as the one I had to deal with but you might want to be prepared...

Yep, thats me too! Clueless again Ford. Tried live chat, he said to use a different browser to check, WTF. my sync account still shows only installations doney Ford in 2011. Not the current one done this year.
Okay, I'm assuming that the one done last year and that shows on your account is V3.0.2.
If you did the latest update to V3.2.2, did you report that installation using the Status Checker tool as described in syncmyride?
After I did the latest update I download the Status Checker tool, plugged it into the USB port in the Ex, waited for the program to complete and then went back and plugged it into the same port on my computer that I used to download the program. It verified the installation had been done.
When I logged out and back in, it showed V3.2.2 as the installed software.

From your additional comments as to what syncmyride shows about having to go to the dealer, that seems to be the old stuff left over from the previous (V3.0.2) upgrade.

Peter

My update keeps telling me that I have the 3.0.2, if I upgrade I have to do at the dealer to never be able to do, here they do not know which upgrade to go, I could do the above through Syncmyride, but now I given the choice, any suggestions, Rebecca could give me a hand, Greetings

Also showing that I need to go to the dealer for the update.

you can send a zip drive to someone on the board and have them download it for you and send it back to you.

I'm beginning to wonder if some of that info re taking it to the dealer is left over from the last update.
I wonder what the criteria is for deciding who goes and who can do it themselves?? For the last update I had to go to the dealer but not for this latest one. Very confusing?

Mine said I had to go to dealer too. I downloaded the update off the Edge forums and it installed then worked fine so I think you guys are right about 3.0.2. I had the cooling fan recall done with 3.0.2 but I'm guessing something needed to be cleared or it needed to register that it was done on syncmyride. I'm guessing for all additional updates this will be the case since no one on Ford's end seems to know anything about the innerworking of the syncmyride website.

Welcome to the Forum Tracker09.:wavey:
In regards to ensuring that the sync account is up to date with your latest software, that is the owner's responsibility. When the dealer does the upgrade they do not send the info to Sync. That is why the sync site has a 'Status Checker' tool that you can download to report your latest version.
Your account/software info will then update.
I believe in some case that running a Vehicle Health Report may do the same.

Peter, that is incorrect. I have had updates done at the dealership and they were updated on the site. I never used the status checker. The reason they have you come in to get updates is to check things like the engine fans. There is a reason to bring it in. They just don't randomly pick people to bring the vehicles in. I had to bring mine in for the 3.0 update, the reason was so they could check the cooling fans at idle. Low and behold they needed to swap them out.

As I mentioned, I also had to take mine to the dealer for the V3.0.2 upgrade so they could keep an eye on the fans. Everything went well but the dealer did NOT report the update to Sync. I called the Ford or IVT team number (can't recall which) and was told that it was up to me to report the update via the Status Checker program if the dealer did not report it. Rebecca even helped in getting the program to load since I was unsuccessful initially. When you do the upgrade yourself, it is up to you to report the update so your account info will reflect the proper version installed on your Explorer.
You can't depend on the dealer to do it. This was proven when a friend of mine bought a 2012 Limited a couple of weeks ago and he still had version 2.11 !!

I ran the status checker after to get it synchronized on the site. The point is though, you can update it from 3.0.2 to 3.2.2 when SMR tells you to see the dealer without seeing the dealer. The reason they sent you to the deal was the cooling fans but some dealers didn't clear that in SMR and the consumer has no way of doing that unless they can find some the elusive or non-existent SMR Tier 3 support.

So, if I understand you correctly, the reason I have to take my Ex back to the dealer each time for an upgrade is that the dealer didn't clear a code in the SMR system? It would seem that someone at Ford, after calling Customer Relations everyday, would be able to update the information and solve the problem. Correct? I've had all of the recalls completed on my vehicle, including the 3.0.2 Performance Upgrade completed at the dealer, but it still wants me to make a separate trip to dealer just to have them place a USB drive into the vehicle. The dealer even offered to bring a USB drive to my home to complete, since I've had so many issue with the vehicle, but that is not a fix. If I'm supposed to be able to update the system myself, why can't Ford fix the issue?

Has anyone had the SMR issue fixed to where it will now allow you to download update? If so, what did you do , or who did you call, to have it corrected? Thanks!

Sync website showing v 2.11 installed on 07/27/11. Also, unconfirmed install done, must be the 3.1 done by the dealer. System will not load data to show upgrades using spell checker to correct this. My sync will not send a health report nor dial sync services. Its not my phone because as soon as I leave the vehicle I can dial services and get connected. Called Ford tech dept. and after master reset and a half an hour of trying different changes does not know what is wrong. She states bring it to the dealer. As if he will know what Ford Corp. sync person doesn't. Yea right. This vehicle has been to the dealer at least 15 times since purchase. Its tiring. It goes in on Mon. Wish me luck.
I've learned the hard way to never again buy any new vehicle which is a new model built in the first week of production. :>(.

PS. Cory or Rebecca, are you listening?????

I feel your pain...

I've had my issues escalated to several times, and now supposedly am speaking with the Customer Relations Manager for the SE US. She was just in contact to what she referred to as "THE subject matter experts" in regards to MFT at Ford. She even stated they are in direct contact with the engineers in Detroit for MFT.

Here was their answer to my issues, and I quote: "Please go to syncmyride.com to download the latest update."

ARE YOU KIDDING ME????? If I could, I would, but it states I have to return to the dealer, which told me there wasn't an update. It has become an absolute joke with Ford... And this was the response from the "experts" at Ford.

Are you listening FORD?

does anyone know how to download the update with a mac? it tells me i need to enable active x but that is only on a windows computer....

Just want to confirm something. You mentioned that you have V3.0.2. Is that reflected in what SMR shows as being your current software version? If so, I really don't understand what is going on with the 'take it to the dealer' issue.

I use a MacBook Pro

I was advised to download Google Chrome and use that browser to access SMR.

That worked fine.

Peter,
Yes, SMR shows version 3.0.2 being installed. I as well don't understand, but Ford isn't capable of answering the question either. IVT won't respond, Ford can't answer the question, and dealership is clueless...

Hi everyone!

For those of you receiving the "Visit your dealer" message on SYNCMyRide, you'll need to do so in order to have FSA 12B36 performed on your vehicle. Once this has been completed, the update will be available for download within 10 - 15 business days.
