Got my new tires this morning.

I decided to go with Goodyear Wrangler RT/S in 235r75 x 15. They are nice looking and ride very smooth on the highway.

not my first choice,

but they seem to be a good-all around tire

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't those all-terrain tires?

I have had them on 2 vehichles and they are the absolutely worst crappiest tires I have ever had, but good luck, maybe you will like them. I dont get it though Al, you always seem to research and go out of your way to get the best stuff then you settle for the RT/S, dont take offense but I find that odd.

Exactly..I even suggested a tire that had a HIGHWAY rating for it....Not many tires have a H in the designation...And I got laughed at for the M/S thing. I thought Goodyear Wranglers are M/S also...correct me if I am wrong.

Yes, this tire is suposed to be offroad capable....

However, that was not the reason I choose them. I have several friends who run this tire and I like the way it rides. Further, I was able to get a great deal on them. Thirdly, they ride great on my truck and I like em.

I just put a set of Michelin LTX M/S on as Firestone replacements on my 98 4x4, and the noise reduction was very noticeable. The steering is lighter, now, too. I haven't checked to gas mileage yet, but hope for some improvement.

Even though they are rated as M/S, they are primarily made for highway use, as I understand it. Tire rack sells them pretty cheap ($108), and no tax offsets the shipping cost. I had Walmart do the installation to get lifetime R&B at a place that I might actually go and have the R&B done while I shop.

I am really pleased and hope to get 80,000 from these tires -- if the X makes it that far!

Well, if you hit a patch of water in a Florida thunderstorm... hang the hell on

My RT/S's hydro planed soo bad my truck felt like a pig on ice

That is what motivated me to get my Dueler AT Revo's...

But, as for their on highway manners, I have no complaints. I got good gas mileage, they worked OK in the snow (not that you care), and they wear like iron... I couldn't wear mine out so I just have them sitting in the shed as of now

Well after 3 hurricans worth of rain in the last month, I have not experienced this.

aldive,
I shopped most of the major tire centers and ended up at Firestone. I bought a set of the Destination LE's to replace the BFG Long Trails that served me well for 52K.
I'm very pleased with the smoother ride and the price for a top rated tire was very resonable. I paid $79 for the Destinations vs. $115 for the Duelers.
I've only had them for 300 miles, but the thing I notice (other then being smoother) is they seem to take less effort to turn at slow speeds, like parking.
I'll see how they do this weekend up north hunting on some dirt roads.
