Talking First Gen/Air Bag/Steering Wheel

I have just recently purchased a 1994 EB X. I noticed the steering wheel is a little messed up. I was wondering if the first gen explorers have air bags in the steering wheel? I planned on putting a different steering wheel in, has anyone ever had problems doing this? Is it hard? I searched a little bit, but my internet is slow, and I couldn't find good enough information. I would appreciated any help, thanks.

Some do! If it has one in it it should say so right on the steering wheel. Since it's a EB my guess would be that it does have one.

Passenger side airbags weren't available until '95. Driver side was available in '94 if not a little before. We had a '94 XL with one.

94's had a drivers airbag? You sure it wasn't 95? I have never seen a 91-94 X with any airbag. I had 2 different 94's & have looked at alot when buying & none of them have an airbag.

Well, is there a fuze or something I could un-hook, so that I can make sure I am safe? I dont care if it does not have one, I just do not wanna get injured in the process of changing a simple thing. Thanks for all the replies.

You could always unplug the battery to be safe

If your steering wheel looks like this:

You do not have an airbag
