Where is it and How!
My 92 EB isn't shifting from 1st to 2nd until I let off the gas. It used to only do it when it was cold, now it is consistent. I have heard it is probably a sticking governor. Now the question is where is the governor, what is the governor, and how can I fix it?

The governor is located in the rear of the transmission in the extension housing. It is just a weight, with some springs. They tend to bind after a while.

There are a few threads (including instructions) on cleaning/replacing the governer..
Its not too hard to get to (on a 4x4).. but you do have to remove the transfercase to get to it.. ~Mark |
