Unhappy Truck Haven In Trouble Again!

Taken from Pirate4x4...

From John Stewart

PLEASE DISTRIBUTE AS NECESSARY

Please note, I have been trying to pull together a meeting on June 20
to discuss moving forward with the proposed Truckhaven Acquisition by
OHMVR Division of State Parks.

The proposed meeting is cancelled and will be attempted at a future
date.

Recently, the Anza Borrego Foundation began a fund raising campaign
to raise approximately $300,000 by July 8, 2006. The focus of the
effort is to acquire the Truckhaven property for addition to Anza
Borrego Desert State Park.

According to ABF literature, a conservation organization has
indicated a willingness to accept the property and serve as an
interim landowner/steward with the guaranteed objective of eventually
conveying the property to Anza Borrego Desert State Park.

The ABF letter indicates that State Senator Denise Ducheny is
supportive of this effort.

This issues was discussed with Senator Ducheny's Chief-of-Staff, John
Ferrara. As was suspected, the Foundation had used the Senator's
name without her permission nor was her husband, Al Ducheny, who is
on the ABF&I Board, aware that the Foundation was using her name.
Both Denise and Al were very upset with this misuse of her name and
have chastised the Foundation. The Foundation has apologized and
will remove her name from their website and any future literature or
correspondence.

Previous discussion with Native America tribes and organizations
indicate support to the original proposal for the OHMVR Division to
acquire the land. The Native America representative at the OHMVR
Commission meeting spoke in favor of OHMVR management of the land.
And yet, the ABF letter indicates the Native America tribes and
organizations are supportive of the ABF proposal.

At this point in time, the ABF has scheduled a "Save the Desert"
meeting to be held:

Tuesday, June 20, 2006
5:30-7:30 pm
Offices of Buchanan Ingersoll
12230 El Camino Real, Suite 300
San Diego, CA 92130
(858) 509-7300

I encourage interested parties to attend the presentation.

Another thing, they are requesting RSVP - (760) 767-0446

CURRENT STATUS:

The State Administrative bodies (State Parks and OHMVR Division) have
approved the Truckhaven Acquisition. The State Publics Work Board
has yet to issue the final approval.

There is significant opposition to the acquisition which may kill the
proposal at the Public Works Board.

We are in a waiting status.

I've never been there, It looks nice. The links made me wanna support them. I know that sometimes, like 7 outta 10 your get some jerk wheelers who only wanna mess stuff up. So I kinda understand. Even though they are being one sided and jerks about the whole thing. Whatever is best for Mother earth I guess.
