Odd noise/vibration on acceleration

This should be good...
When we acclerate we get a deep bass roaring noise (which can best be described as being like the sound you got from a car after swapping the OEM air-filter for a K&N set-up) accompanied by a vibration through the floorpan/vehicle.
Lift off the the throttle to maintain speed and the noise vanishes.
Sometimes we can accelerate without the noise/vibration at all....

I was thinking maybe the exhaust was hung wrongly and was hitting the body as the engine moves with the effect of torque.

Any one got any differing thoughts/xperiences as it's a REALLY annoying sound!!

TIA,

I have the same problem with mine and it doesn't get worse or do any harm (but I've only had it a couple of months). It is most apparent climbing hills and only there from about 2200rpm to 2800 rpm and disappears at 3000rpm.It is a loud drumming/roar/ rather like hitting those rumble strips between the slow lane and hard shoulder on motorways. Is yours only affected at these revs? does anyone else have it?

regards

Brian

Dodgy viscous fan coupling? Those fans don't half shift a lot of air when they 'catch up' with the engine speed...
