Hello all. Name's Andy and am now the owner of another Ford.

Chrismas came early this year for me.

I've owned a '02 Mustang V6 for 3 years now, and have suffered through 3 winters with it. Bought back in December of '03 off a Chrysler lot. Was an ex Hertz Rent-a-Wreck outta Mass. But no more now! Picked up and Explorer a few weeks ago:

1998 Sport 4x4
4.0L OHV V6
106.5K miles
Auto trans
Pacific Green Mettalic exterior
Ugly green interior
1 Owner from Pennsie

As with most car owners I suffer from CLWEA (Kla-Way-A) Syndrome. Stands for Can't Leave Well Enough Alone. Didn't have the truck in the driveway 5 mins. and I was already dismantling the grille to paint it and install some 4K Xenons.

Was originaly looking at a 2000 Ranger Supercab 4dr. 4x4, however Mom felt it would be unsafe, so after a short argument I found this online and it was sitting in the driveway 2 days later.

It runs great and is fairly clean for a '98. Has a foot of Pennsie road dirt on the engine but I cleaned that up for the most part. In the Spring I'll really clean it up, rig up a side exit exhaust (I have a small collection of Hi-po mufflers --DynoMax, Flowmaster) and maybe some roof rack lights. Will definently dye the interior a dark grey.

Only problem is that it found out why it was cheap to buy a few days after owning it. I do all my own reapirs so I only pay for parts. There's a short list if you want to read it. Other than that I really enjoy the truck and hope it lasts awhile so I can have it through the winter and fun with it on the weekends. :D

That's all for now. Hello again.

-Andy

Front end. Notice the spray-painted grille. That's my dad's '05 Pacifica, and my Stang in the back.

Rear. Yea we got a boat too, 1990 18' POS Maxum. Lake is about 20 mins away. This truck isn't gonna be doing any towing though. :D

The UGLY green interior. I plan on dying it grey, and accenting it with the same Pacific Green as on the outside. Did the same thing to my Stang. Painted some of the interior pieces silver.

List of problems and how I fixed 'em. (ya don't need to read this :) )
Driver side anti-sawy bar stud was snapped off at the top
Bought 2 new sets from Ford
Driver seat rocked
Put a bolt through the broken pin
Passenger fog filled with rusty water and burned out
Took both fogs off and taped off plugs
Exhasut rotted at flange 3 days after purchase between the Cat and muffler (Sounded very nice)
Patched with pipe and exhaust wrap
Radio display worked 1/4 of the time
Trimed bezel on dash and shoved the radio from my Stang in. Works with the radio controls in the rear.
Engine light came on
DPFE sensor found to be broken. $110 replacement from Ford.

Welcome aboard! Looks like you picked up a nice ride.

If you have CLWEA then you're screwed here dude! Just look at mine, i bought it like yours and now it's chopped up sheet metal!

Welcome! Sweet ride you'll find all the help you'll ever need here.

I didn't realize they made green interiors. :fart:

:p: :D

Yea it's green. Plan on changeing that in Spring.

Also just so everyone knows, You'll see me refering to my Stang alot seeing as it's a base for most of the ideas i have for the Explorer. Lighting, Visual upgrades, Performance, Audio, etc.

Hey you can get the DPFE sensor from rock auto for around 55 bux i think is what i payed for mine. Dlso don't put the tribal grafix on the X IMHO it will look gay.

Welcome. I'm gald you got an Explorer.

Just curious why your mom thought the Ranger was not safe when they are almost identical vehicles:confused:

Cgriffin:
I forgot all about Rock Auto. Now I'm kicking myself.

It's not really tribal per say. It's supposed to be a Mustang. However I unserstand, and I wasn't planning on it anyway.

Dan Whitaker:
She felt it would be too light in the rear for snow. Even though I said we could weigh it down with sand/rocksalt bags or a bed cap or both.
