I wish Ford had not abandoned those V6 engines, or had done a better job with the SOHC new engine. NASCAR had them running as fast as the V8's in Grand National(restrictor plate races), before they changed the rules. That looks great, keep us posted.

'03/'04 Cobra Mustangs. They had 4.6L DOHC supercharged engines.

They were pushrod V6's, the twins in deck/bore dimensions to the 351's. The new SOHC V6 is very good when done right, but the early 97-01's were not.

She'd have much more fun with it lowered (just a little; nothing getto here) and with a turbo.

Looks great!

Looks great! Lots of hard work! Would it be possible to see more pics of the Y-pipe and exhaust work beneath the truck? It looks rather hard to change spark plugs on the passenger side, not that its really a big deal... just that at the dyno, they recommended that I change plugs a few times in case they've fouled them...

I will have a look for some more pics, but I think those pretty much explain everything that I've modified..

Spark plugs are still as easy to change as before.. I've changed them in less than 20 minutes in the yard a few times.. No problem..

Cheers,

Amac,
Do you have the Megasquirt controlling the 3-4 shift and OD lockup on the A4LD?

Not yet, still have the stock ECM controlling it... Once spring comes around I may fix that though.. There is a member on the Megasquirt forums that has it set up to control the lock up, but lets the tranny go into OD on its' own...

Cheers,

Cheers,
The 3-4 shift solenoid is controlled by the computer on the later A4LDs (I know at least 89+ does). How would the transmission know to shit into OD if the solenoid isn't hooked up?

It looks like there was a guy some time ago (2003) that had controlled the A4LD with the Megashift program/controller. I couldn't really find much on it through.

Yea, I think that the governor may override it at some point, but to be honest, I never gave it any more thought after he told me that (I did find it strange).. When I change over, the Megasquirt will control both the lock up and 4th gear solenoid.. Havn't quite decided on a logic that I like for both, but i defenatly want to have a VSS signal as one of my inputs.. (Megasquirt doesn't have a built in VSS circuit, so it requires a seperate circuit..)

Cheers,

Well, over 10,000 km and still running strong.. (knock on wood)

Just for fun, I threw a water injection kit together yesterday in an hour to see what would happen..

Consists of a turbo laser fuel pump, Subaru fuel rail, a few lines and a hobbs switch (ie boost activated micro switch). Comes on around 0 to 1 psi of boost.. Not sure how the injectors and fuel pump will like water, but I'll give it a whirl..

I had been having some detonation issues on the highway going up hills and hauling stuff.. Now it's quiet as a mouse all over the RPM range on the highway.. Probably could have fixed it with some tuning or an intercooler, but this was a pretty interesting experiment..

All in all I'm pretty impressed with the results.. I actually think the truck is starting to work better after all the "steam cleaning" it's been getting from the water injection..

Next thing to do is see if I can get my gas mileage up from 12mpg since my last fill up cost 95 bucks! Should be able to lean it out considerably with the water injection..

Later,
