1991 Amp Confusion

I recently purchased an aftermarket, no-name brand CD Player for a bargain and have been attempting to get it to work with the 1991 Stock Amp.

I have adapted the wiring harness, gotten power to the amp, and have heard all the speakers (maybe minus the sub, can't tell) work. However, after playing for a few seconds the speakers seem to crossfade across each other, thump a bit, and go really quiet. There is no crackling, just low pitch thumping. Would this happen because my stock amp is used to a head unit with a fade option, and I do not have that in my new CD player? I figure bypassing the amp would probably solve this, but I would love not having to tear apart that back panel to get in there.

Any advice would be appreciated from you audio gurus, I just want to be able to play some music while getting my truck dirty.

well i am using the factory amp in my 93 and all i did was use the adaptors in the ford kit. i have not had any problems but you do want to make sure that the setting on the radio are not being affected. my radio is a 50x4 and it does not have any distortion. make sure there are no shorts in the radio install and that all power wires are connected properly. as far as bypassing it it is easier to just re run the wires to the speakers. make sure you have the posative side of radio wire correct going to the speakers. meaning the black tracers for speakers on ground side of the speakers.
