Will a '93 4.0L fit my 95 XLT, VIN X?
saw an inexpensive engine for sale in my area, from a '93 Explorer
for sale. Would it fit into my truck? I am in the process of determining which engine, but wanted to try and get a jump on it. Thanks Again Guys |

yes and no
Yes the 93 block will go into your 95 if you strip it down to the longblock and use the 95 accessories, exhaust, mounts, and intake(s) The 95 OHV is a stronger engine however then the 93, there were some upgrades after 94 that make the 95 more desire-able If I was you I would look for a 98-2001 4.0L Engine with low miles 98-01 will have an 8 bolt crank so you may have to buy a flexplate and bolts from ford if you get one from a stick (assuming your 95 is an auto, we are taliking $50 in parts) I have replaced a few 4.0L OHV's in my day. I find the lowest miles best price nearest me and use it The bock and heads changed very little from 90-2001 on the outside. __________________ 96 Explorer daily driver build-1996 XLT 5.0L AWD to 4x4 conversion complete on 33's 88 BII 5.0L conversion - BII 5.0l drivetrain thread My Bronco II - 1988 Bronco II 4x4 V8 on 35's - registry and updates Wifes 07 FJ build - 2007 FJ cruiser locked and lifted |
