anyone know how or if the parking brake can be adjusted? I can't seem to find any type of adjustment on the cables?

There are adjusters on the rear backing plate. It's a pain. You either need to measure, adjust, install, or do what i did and punch out the metal covers (can only be done I think with disk/drum off) and then adjust from behind wheel. Kind of a pain, but gets the job done. Have you checked the shoes? Many become delaminated and need replaced. If you do, then buy the brake spring install tool at Autozone, makes the job a lot easier.

I just did the rears, and those parking brakes in general are a b----h, i spent over 3 hours on those alone. I did the same, it was a pain to punch out the circle, exposes the star wheel. Only way i got mine out was to strip them down, un-bolt thee backing plate so you could rotate it.

Also found the parking brake drum shot but the rotor it self was ok. Tried to turn it but wound up getting new ones, drum would never clean up. Had to buy all new rear brakes, pads, rotor, kits. Most expensive rear that i have done.

Did you fill the hole with anything?

I just did mine last month. I adjusted them just until I felt a slight drag on the drum and then backed it off a bit. I adjusted them by sliding the drum of slightly and using a small screwdriver and then put them back on and check for clearance. Now my pedal goes down just halfway to engage the parking brake fully. You don't have to knock out a hole.

I rebuilt them a year ago with all new hardware. Rockauto.com has the rebuild kit.

trucku, that was a great idea! Since I punched mine out, I covered the hole with a small piece of Gorilla Duct Tape (strongest tape on planet earth).
