Question KAUFMANN PRODUCTS V8 SWAP KIT

Have any of you guys used the Kaufmann Products V8 swap kits? If so, what did you think of them? I am very interested in their shorter front accessory kit. Between it and their swap kit, it sound pretty complete. Their adapter to mount an AOD to the existing BW case is fairly expensive though. They quoted me $875.00 vs. AA's $535.00.

Thanks,
Bryan

I'd like to hear about this as well. I'm planning my swap out right now, and need all the input I can get.

Talking

L&L Products has the best kit on the market bar none and they also have the close fit kit for the front accessories.

If you can find a Mountaineer in the slavage yard you can get the part from it. At least it looks like the front stuff fits up closer.

The L&L Kit comes with motor mounts with a lifetime garrantee; an oil pan to miss the front suspension; a killer oil filter relocation kit, really nice; and the heavest duty headers on the market that are also garranteed for life against rust through. They can't supply a raditor but there are plenty of suppliers for them around.

I have used the L&L kit on my 88 Ranger and have a kit for my Navajo project, so I think they are good.

Good Luck and let the forum know how things work out.

Ok the cheepest way to do it is buy a wrecked 5.0 ex or mounty get the motor, harness, tranny etc... Mounts can be fabbed out of flat stock. bolted to the motor and holes drilled to line up with the stock 4.0 towers/mounts. I used duff headers but they are mighty close to my driveshaft now that I have done my sas. This is not a realy inexpensive swap. So expect to spend some money doing it. If I had a nickle every time I wanted to kick my own ass for starting this I might would break even. But I've gone a lot further with it than most. A run down.

Engine 95 302 from a F-150
GT-40 intake
GT-40y heads
roller rockers
comp cam roller
front timing cover, brackets, alternator, waterpump from a V-8 ex (These parts plus the GT-40y heads would have easily covered a junkyard ex engine and it already has the GT-40p heads and intake) fyi
Duff Headers
Ford motor sports computer and MAF
lots of little parts from summit that add up real quick.
I'm guessing I dont know I dont want to know Approx 3500.00-4000.00

Transmission zf-5 from A F-250 with a 351 Will not fit without a 3" body lift.
Clutch
fly wheel
new starter to work with zf-5
More little stuff from summit
Approx 1000.00

X-fer case np-203 np205 doubler
ORD doubler
32 spline imput shaft for 203 (because mine came out of a chevy)
Machine shop labor to mate 203 case to ford pattern.
rebuild kits for both cases.
relocate gas tank because old one occupies space for doubler
re lengthin drive shafts
more little parts from summit
approx 2000.00

And I'm shure there are people who have done it for less. Who were going to run it off road and dropped a 600cfm Holley on it and called it good. who put a c4,5,or6 behind it with a dana 20 x-fer case. To that point remember any full size x-fer case from the 70's on up will bolt to a full size transmission. Your mane issue with x-fer cases is hitting the frame rail.

The moral of the story is save up for the LL kit or duff or who ever. Because you will spend more than you save trying to source the little things. Good luck and happy wrenching.

With all that said when i fire mine up and it sounds like a mustang somehow all of the mony and time spent seam worth it.

I may have a huge amount of these parts that I'm willing to part with. i'll find my old forsale thread but it includes a 0 mile bored .30 over 302 to 306ci with a t-5wc from a stang to a dana 20 (need that) lots of wiring (may need a new harness but have good links to that) and tons of fueling, cooling, and exhaust parts.
