front differential pressure valve leaking

I noticed that over the last 2 days that my 01 was leaking grease. When I took the front driver wheel off it it looks like the its the pressure valve for the front diffy. I used the 4X4 once lately for a short time but had no problems with it at all. I am just trying to figure out why it would be doing this and what can be done to prevent this. Thanks

Well I got my sport trac on a lift today and took at look at the grease in the front differential and you can see that there is foam in the mix. It seems that some water has gotten into the differential and with the freezing and thawing of an ohio winter the extra water is pushing grease out the breather then. Does anyone known of any common problems with those diffy's that would let water in? bad seal maybe?

Both our 2001 and 2003 2 door Sport's leaked front gear oil over the
driver side outside cv boot. There's a TSB that re-plumbs the routing
of the front differential vent. Our's were both done under waranty...
and that fixed the leaking. You might ask your local Ford dealer to
see if the TSB was ever performed on your vehicle.
