Talking Ford Explorer Sport trac 4x4 Sale Or Engine Help PLease

OK so I am a newbie on here, I have a big problem
I have a Sport trac 2001.
1 1/2 ago on way to work it got hot and they say blew head gasket which is gonna cost me a arm and leg to have done. roughly 2500 after getting new parts that wear out after so many miles anyways. my truck had 172000 miles on it when this happened.
This guy wants to buy it from me as is but only wants to give me $500.00 I think the 4x4 alone is worth more than that.
I mean it was not the most beautiful thing I hit a deer last winter and never had it fixed but.
I had a beautiful Pumpkin Orange Truck that I dearly loved.
Can anyone let me know of a cheaper way to fix it or what a good asking price would be. This was my all the time car and I loved it never had a lick of troubles. PLease please help. If anyone needs one or knows of how much it's worth beacuse to me in my heart its worth a lot more.. Thanks K.P.

I'll tell you this because I fixed a wrecked one. Now take into consideration these are salvage yard prices.
Doors $450 each
Bed $600
Rear end $350-$500
Front clip (from the windshield forward) would cost you $700-$1000.

YOU can't get that, probably, but $500 is a joke! It's worth $1200 if it's worth a dime!

If you were closer I'd put an engine in your hands in a flash, at a good price! Buy a salvage yard motor and have it put in. There is a good post on here about even using a late model Mustang long block.
