96 Explorer cassette adapter problems

Hey, I just bought a cassette adapter to play my ipod through the radio, and it would play for about 3 seconds and then switch sides, then eject. If I kept pressing the Tape button on the radio it would continue playing. I assumed it was a problem with the cassette adapter so I went and bought a Philips cassette adapter and it does the exact same thing. I can't buy a new radio but I still want to play my ipod. Any help would be very appreciated, Thanks.

Welcome To Explorer Forum! Years ago I had that issue too and I solved it by taking the cassette apart and taking the wheels out then it no longer did that. But a new CD player with AUX on the front can usually be had for $80.00 and easy to install in these Explorers.
