Ahhhhhhhh, EF is once again blessed with your trolling. There is a complete forum here for Models and RC cars. There are plenty of threads about "REAL" RC cars. What is a "REAL" RC car? 1:12, 1:10, 1:8, heck maybe 1:4 is what makes a RC real. Either way, this thread is about the Xmod cars (as clearly stated in the title), if you have nothing to add to the discussion, don't post here.

Anywho....

This is what I like about these cars. I did some TAB work at a middle school a few months back, and after school, an Xmod "club" congregated in the cafeteria for some racing. The great part was that everyone ran, essentially, the same car. The only modification that had been made to every car was the addition of bearings. The shop teacher at the school had tracked down the size of the bearings, and sourced them out at about $.50 a piece, as opposed to the $2+ that RS wants. Outside of the bearings, each of these cars were "stock" out of the box (although I believe the motor rpm and gear ratios vary amongst the cars). The only performance advantage the racers could achieve was through weight reduction and susp setup. Many of the kids had to de-tune their cars to make them equal to the others.

IMO, this was great racing! And to be honest, I put in about an hour of company time watching them. I would love to get involved in a similar club, but racing mini RCs isn't all that popular amongst the +/-30 crowd. Oh well, it is still fun to run up and down the road. I used to race a local 1:10 carpet oval (way back when BoLink owned) and that was great, but nice tracks like that doesn't exist around here anymore. Heck, a cleaned out living room could be enough room to oval these things. And the $$$ involved is a huge bonus!!

Yes, but not all of us have been blessed with a sense of humor. Do you need a kleenex?

I think someone who drives a car with a gentle hand is much better then someone driving an expensive import car like a sloppy animal.

I have almost 20 new cars left. Will start selling them all soon. Momma said they all must go. So much for my collection. I also have lots and lots of extra parts.

If you don't mind me asking, how much would you be asking for a car?

To my friends here at the Explorer Forums, I ask for $50 a car. It will come with a new XMOD, new steel bearings, and will also throw in a set of custom wheels and lug nuts.

Do you have any upgrades to sell BBQ? I wouldn't mind some bearings and motors.

yellow Xmods usually beat mini z where I race

We race on a special type of carpet and in our group there are about 7 or 8 xmods(all modified) and 5 or 6 miniz(also modified). 8 out of 10 times first and second place are xmods. I think that min z are may be lighter and quicker but xmods are better for side by side racing. Most of the time I can flip over a mini z without much effort.

No disrespect to mini z, but with the price advantage xmods have I do not see why people prefer to purchase a car that costs 3 times what an already modified xmod cost.

here are some pics of our cars.

thanks arco! Brad, Nothing wrong with going traxxas, got a couple sitting in my garage as a matter of fact. But as for Xmods, I think they kind of went down because not many people were buying them anymore. They came and went just like ZipZaps, but if you have them, you're lucky. atomicmods.com has a small chunk of their website devoted for Xmod stuff, but some of it isn't cheap, as is it is "aftermarket" parts like aluminium shocks and rear arms and such
