Wiring harness swap.

I have 98 ranger, ohv 4.0l and a 98 eplorer 5.0l. The explorer has rusted out and i want to put he motor in theranger. my questio is about PATS. the range has none and th explorer doe. can i use the computer and harness froma 97 on a 98 enginge? has anyone done this? I dont wan to switch steering columns because i wantto stay standard.
