2004 Eddie Bauer 4.0L with no compression.

Hello all

1st time on your site and glad to be here.

I have purchased a 2004 eddie bauer which i love.with a 4.0l motor

Only one problem.I have no compression in number 1,2 cylinders on the right bank.

I know the timing has NOT jumped and the guides and tensioners are fine .
so the valves should not be bent.

this truck has 170,000kms on it .

Now i have heard that some of these have had bad valve seats via alum heads.

does anybody have any insight to my problem?

thank you .
nice to be on board

You could have a broken valve spring, which would have allowed the valve to drop and make contact with the piston, a bad head gasket between cylinders 1 and 2, a cracked head(not sure if this is common on this engine). Taking that valve cover off to inspect will tell you a lot about what may have happened. Either way not a good situation, sorry man.

No kidding .

not sure as to what it is yet ,not a broken valve spring for sure. all timing chains and guides are tight and look good.

I will know this week as i plan on taking off the right head .

Of course on the side where you only half to remove the whole motor to repair properly.

way to go ford.

thanks for the info will keep you posted as to my findings
