Disconnecting MAF for testing should CEL come on?

Hey,

I read about people testing their MAF by disconnecting and seeing if their car runs better or worse. Does anyone know what it means when the car stalls at a stop sign (since the car should be running on mapped values, right)? LoL

Also how long should it take for the check engine light to come on? Since it's disconnected?

Thanks

Thanks for the info.

With close to 270k miles on the original IAC, I tried cleaning it a while ago. Just bought another one.

Will have to check for a check engine light after removing MAF (2 key cycles) , since I have never actually seen my CEL go on or the ECM throw a code. Even when it's currently misfiring.
