Supercharger for 2011
Anybody know anything about any Supercharger kits out there for the 2011 Explorer? I'm dying to get some more ponies in mine!

I haven't seen anything talked about yet, and I imagine it will be a while before anything comes to market with one. It's an suv not a sports/muscle car and the companies that sell super chargers will make sure the sports/muscle cars get taken care of first.

I have already spoken to all the major manufacturers at SEMA regarding superchargers for the 3.5 and 3.7 l V6's and all have said they have no plans on producing a supercharger. I thought their might've been a better chance of the possibility of one for the 3.7L since it's shared among the Ford Edge Sport and the Mustang, but no-go. there's always turbos....

Can you recommend a turbo kit? Is there one out there?

if you can get a turbo I would go that route over a supercharger anyway. Yeah a supercharger gives you a little more help on the low end, and is easier to install, but overall a turbo is a more efficient option.

your profile says your 'waiting'... then i would suggest the 2012 with twin turbo ecoboost.
in that way you have turbos already setup and imagine more mod options like possibly bigger turbos or increasing boost there than waiting for someone with the sc kit or fabing your own turbo kit. |

yeah, realized that later... was a ex newbie then
![]() was thinking though... wonder if the turbo headers from the 3.5l twin turbo ecoboost fit our 3.5l engines ... get the turbo headers and have a shop fabricate and tune the rest around it. |

I had thought about trying to convert my N.A. to the Ecoboost but there is more to it than just the heads and turbos. I can't remember exactly what, but I recall thinking it was too involved and I would probably be better off with an engine swap.

That would be great, but you know. I'd just let the current engine take its course, while you either figure it out in preparing for the swap. I would just wait to see what Ford does in the next year or so when sales start to sag.
I just rather would have it NOW! If I had that kinda of coin, I'd done it by now. Only other thing that comes to mind is having Hennessey take the challenge of swapping the Eco-Boost from a doner Taurus, unless you can find someone else who is more versed on the Ford aftermarket side of the house. It seems like only balls and time will tell!!

It really doesn't have much to do with balls-- time will tell if they fix MFT. If not, I won't keep this thing long enough to be worth putting any work into the engine!

True dat! But honestly everytime someone takes on a huge project like that on something really new, it takes some bolas to do it...lol!
