Drive train component compatibility

:My project is converting a 1990 Ranger 2.9 V6, Mitsubishi 5 spd. 2Wdr., into a4X4, 4.0,5 spd. Are BW 1354 T cases the same behind manual or auto trannys? The best selection of donor vehicles are 1991 to 1994 Explorers, many with bad auto transmissions. Ford manuals,1990-1994 designate all t cases 7A195 behind either transmission. Also, would a 4.0 with a computer made for an auto trans work with a manual? Thanks for any help, MDL
