What program to open zipped files

I have some zipped files I need to open what free program should I get so I can open them. I was using winzip and now it wont work unless I pay for it. I know there is a free one out there. It might have even come on the computer but what would the name of it be?

WinRar or 7zip are the best choices. If you are running Windows 7, then it's built in though and you don't need anything.

7-zip is the bees knees. Just be careful.

If you save it in a 7zip format not everyone has it but just about everyone can open a .zip file. Even Windows 7 can, even without installing anything.
