dent repair tool

I have seen this thing in catalogs for years and I never really payed it no mind.

http://www.autobodytoolmart.com/ding...0-p-14261.aspx

Well I got one for christmas last year and thought at most it will be one of those tools that is just there in the box and you never really use it.

Well I tried it one day and damn if this isnt one of the best tools I now own.
In more than a few cases I have not even had to use body filler !!!!!!!!! It is simply an amazing precise tool. I freaking love this thing.
Now it doesnt work for big dents, but dings and little dents it is SO worth it.

I dont know if I am the only body guy here any more or not, but if you do dent repair and you have a stud welder, this is the perfect companion.

Depth is just about the only issue. You could have a crease running the length of the panel, as long as the head there on the tool can touch a more desirable level, you can use it just about any where.

How does this compare to a suction cup style puller?

apples and oranges.
two total different tools.
The one I posted about requires a stud welder, which requires you to remove the paint.

I have never used a suction cup that was worth it.

When I've used suction cup pullers, if the dent does come out it ends up "oil canning" and will readily pop back in.

How does it " Repair dents in 3-4 minutes" ? Don't you still have to paint?

Dont read their description, just mine.

yes you still have to paint.

I suppose technically the dent could be repaired in three minuets, just not painted....

I thought I remember seeing a type of hot glue stud similar to the stud welder. Could you use that and not have to paint then? Seems to me BB was the one that posted it a couple years ago?

I think that it might have been a Harbor Freight stud gun.
