So is our 2010 Mountaineer 5 x 4.5" bolt pattern? What is factory wheel offset? I think it might be time to add some 20's or larger. Do the Edge or F150 share the same bolt pattern?

The bolt pattern on the Explorer, Flex, and most Fords is 5 x 4.5", but the offset is probably different. You'd want a different offset for 20" wheels anyway, they are usually only available in wider widths than factory, so you'd want less backspacing to keep them from rubbing. Usually it's best to get them fitted for the application, but you can get offset/backspacing info from sites like tirerack/discount tire and they will show or tell you what works.

I'd suggest 18's instead of 20's though. Dubs are played out and just for showing off in the parking lot. The bling factor might seem appealing at first, but it loses it's charm after you put a dent in your $400 wheel just from hitting a pothole because of the low profile tires. 18's will roll faster, ride smoother, look less stupid, and cost less too.

Thanks for the reply. Our last Mountaineer had factory 20's and I think it looked much better than our current one with factory 18's. Given the size and ride height of the vehicle a 20" doesnt look large to me on, I run 19's on my car (factory option on sport pkg and M3's are 19") and like the look and the ride quality isnt that bad. Even here in Michigan with our potholed roads never had a problem with rim damage though it is a lighter car. Its cool to agree to disagree on the looks factor. Thanks again for the info!

Vehicle Specs

The vehicles with factory 20's are usually calibrated for a larger diameter tire, so they can use a higher sidewall on the low profile tires. When you plus size a vehicle with 18's into fitting 20's, usually you wind up using a very low profile, 45-40 series, or even 35-30, which is really way, way to low profile for street use.

If you use the larger diameter tires, same as the factory 20's, usually the speedo/odometer is off, and it can affect other things like tire pressure systems, ABS, brakes, etc.

If the diameter of the factory tires is the same though, no issues.
