Wanted: The latest and greatest "Scan tool"

2011 will be here soon. Technology changes every year. I have read for most of this morning and learned the basics of scan tools. There is a lot more to learn. For the members with a scan tool less than one year old (others welcome) I plan to purchase a scan tool in the next 10 days for the following vehicles.
96 Dodge 3500 Cummins
96 Buick Regal 3.8 (CEL on)
2007 Honda Ridgeline
My daily driver 04 explorer 4.0 81k
The explorer has/had a P0401. Had it checked at A-zone. It was reset and came on again the next day. I added some lucas fuel inj cleaner to 1/8 tank of fuel and drove it 30 miles. Added a 16oz can of Chevron Techron and 8 gallons of fuel. Drove it 100 miles flooring it 5-6 times hoping to clear out any trash from the EGR. My "service engine soon" light is now off and has remained off for 75 miles. I drive this vehicle very gently almost never going over 3000 rpms. I fugures it needed a blowing out. I also know that the fuel additive was just drawing at straws. I have searched p0401 too death nearly. Guys I have not paid a mechanic to do any of my work in at least 10 years. I do it all my self and take pride. One thing I have learned in life is to ask questions. I'm asking. What is the best scan tool for the money? I have read up an the autel brand I want it to be upgradable. support CAN. be able to read the sensors and reset all codes. I like most have time sit and wait for a good deal. With 4 vehicles I do not have to be in a hurry to do any repairs.
Thanks a lot.
