Intro to Mig Welding- Club Workshop
Thinking about attending this intro to MIG welding course.
http://www.clubworkshop.com/index.ph...c3cebea4ab6e45 There's a place called Club Workshop that is basically a hobby club with a shop/tools for use for members (membership pricing). They also do classes - $45 for a 3 hour class to jumpstart me into this hobby. Not bad, in my opinion. Anyone had any dealings, or heard any reviews about that place (Club Workshop) ? __________________ Thanks, Luke -2005 Sport Trac 4x4 - 3" PA BL / 33"x12.5"x15 DuraTrac's - Tinted Taillights - Reverse Light Manual Override - FINALLY completed My Registry! |

Took the MIG class this morning at Club Workshop, led by Sherman, and it was VERY helpful/informative for a first-timer. There is a 5 student maximum per class, but only 3 were in the one today. It cost $45 and I was taught a large amount of information. Went over safety, technique, do's and don'ts. Also learned about plasma cutters and how to use one- got to cut my own coupons, which was fun while it lasted (like 3 seconds lol).
Here's a few pictures : Snapped a few of Sherman, the instructor - ![]() ![]() Here's one of the other students from the class ![]() Here were a few of my beads... (I'm a beginner... )![]() Here's some panoramics of Club Workshop- sorry some are blurry, just wanted you all to be able to see the amount of tools in this place- Click on them to make them bigger: Here's the welding/metalworking areas (cnc plasma cutter on the far left.. cool ![]() ![]() )![]() ![]() I have no idea what these machines do, but they were in the metal shop: ![]() Here's the woodshop: ![]() The garage area: ![]() and you can rent this conference area:

Great Pics! and a really cool review! IMHO, structure comes first with welding, and yours looked good. Makin' em pretty will come in time, but for your first time doing it, it looked really solid!
As for the metal shop, From left to right were three (limited functionality) CNC Mills and a Metal Cutting Lathe. In the background it is hard to tell, but it looked like a Drill Press and maybe a Metal cutting Band saw, along with another metal lathe. Pretty standard stuff, but really cool none the less. |

I went looking through their site, and it looks to be a really cool resource; especially for learning new skills and you don't have the access to expensive toys (like those mills... they look similar to the ones we have at metro, and care priced in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. >_<)
When you did the welding class, was it all wire feed or did you get to do some stick welding as well? |

I'm a student there, going for Aerospace Systems and Engineering Technologies (ASET). The degree is ddesigned to give me a basic understanding of just about everything in an aerospace engineering firm.
(It sounds cooler than it is) |
