US 2011 Explorer elec seat issue

I've got 2 Explorers, both 2011. On one, when you open the driver's door and look across the front edge of both seats, the driver's seat bottom is 1"-2" further forward than the passenger seat. Driver's seat is as far back as it will go, and yet there is still 1-2" of available rail for it to go further back. On the other Explorer, both seat bottoms are "flush" with each other and I have much more leg room.

Has anyone had this problem, and how did you get it resolved?

Thanx in advance for your input.

do you have a tow package? 2011 vehicles equipped with tow package have a "tire mobility kit" (air compressor) stored right below the driver's seat. It could be that the driver seat is getting hung-up by this air compressor.

Welcome to the Forum Dennis.
I was just wondering if you tried moving it all the way back in all its height positions? Perhaps if it was up higher it may go all the way back?
Just a thought.

Peter

Thanx for the suggestions. But unfortunately they don't apply. I do not have a tow package, and I've moved the seat every which way from Sunday.

I suspect the electric motor "stops" were set incorrectly at the seat vendor, but so far none of the Ford "technicians" (and I use the term loosely) have a clue how to modify it.

Ford dealers refuse to put me in touch with Ford, or seat vendor to sort this out. It's very frustrating.

I thought some of you DIY mechanics might have stumbled on a way to adjust it.

Thanx again.

Both have bench seat in middle row? While looking at 2012's I noticed that on a limited with captain in 2nd row, the driver seat felt like it did not go back as far as one with bench seat.

If you crank seat all way forward are there any stops visible on end of track to adjust?

Welcome to the boards, Dennis! I’m available to help by forwarding the details to the Customer Service Manager in your region. For me to do that, please send a PM with your VIN, contact information, approximate mileage, and dealer name/state.

US Update

Wanted to let everyone know, I got my 2011Exback today after dealer replaced the bottom seat rail system for drivers seat.

It is MUCH better. Seat now goes back significantly further than it did before.

Special Thank You to Cory who took it upon himself to get Ford Customer service involved, and Tracey at Ford headqtrs Cust Svc for all of the great follow up to make sure this got handled appropriately.

Now... if I could get my property tax assessor to listen as good as Ford, I'd be a very happy camper...
