Possible Jeep Recall Could be largest in US History

Quote:
Clarence Ditlow, executive director for the Center for Auto Safety, said it's just a matter of time before Chrysler is forced to recall as many as 5 million Jeep SUVs built from 1993 to 2007.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Thursday it is expanding its preliminary investigation into an engineering analysis, and will also look at Jeep Cherokees from the 1993 through 2001 model years, and Jeep Libertys from 2002 through 2007.

Vehicle Specs

Well I posted this up in my recall stickie earlier this week

Chrysler Recall – Transmission Skid Plate

Chrysler has issued a recall of approximately 67,872 Jeep Wrangler vehicles due to a malfunction affecting the transmission skid plate. The skid plate can collect debris which under certain conditions, can ignite without warning, resulting in a vehicle fire.

The recall was expected to begin during May 2012. Dealers have agreed to inspect the vehicle and perform the necessary service free of charge. Owners may contact Chrysler directly at 1-800-853-1403 and reference safety recall no. M22. Additional details can also be found by referencing NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 12V216000.
