Good stuff Colin!! Make it a regular event man!

So here's my tid bit of an update: For a few weeks now I've had this creeking thing going on in the headset area. I tried many things like swapping out the headset and so on but nothing really got rid of it. So I finally decided to check for cracks and sure enough, I saw some stress cracks on the steerer tube inner wall. To verify and check the outer wall, I cut off both legs on the fork and yep, hairline cracks. What's interesting is that the cracks are circular so it may be the result of riding stress AND the welding HAZ area. The last pic at the bottom shows one of the cracks - mucky water had seeped into the vent/purge hole and settled on the crack itself.

I wouldn't necessarily blame this fork and the company that made it since it is after all a "cross country" weight weenie fork -- and I've beaten it on trails that are far beyond the "cross country" category. So I bid this fork adieu and will replace it with a carbon Niner fork in the nude form.

What kind of shock is that Sid, Fox? Several of my rigid single speed friends have the Niner carbon fork and love it. I have to have my 100mm Fox. Right now my left shoulder is messed up and I cant ride at all, not since last summer.

edit: Sid has a carbon steerer doesn't it.

I thought I had a bad ass bike until I saw all of the ones on here. There's not any good trails here in this part of TN like there are out in Cali and the ones I've seen in MD like in the videos earlier. Sadly, there's not m/any people here that ride regularly either. You should see the stares I get when I ride down the roads.

A little far from you but there's the Tanasi Trail System
http://www.imba.com/epics/tanasi-trails

It is one of the IMBA "epics" so even though its ~5 hrs away, it may be worth the trip - IMBA Epics always are

You can always pull it behind a vehicle. When I was younger we had a go-cart with no motor & my dad would pull us down the country roads with the family vehicle. Come to think about it, it didn't have breaks either.

You can always find a hill. Besides you don't need much of a hill for some fun.

Mid 80's Centurion Lemans RS. All original, except the inner tubes, one or both tires, and maybe the brake pads. Currently needs a serious tuneup.

So, I got another one last night...

My friend took his Enduro back because he started riding again, so I was on the look out for a bike of my own. After doing my taxes I started scouring Craigslist, Pinkbike, ebay and mtbr for a mid level 5" travel bike to fit my budget. I found an '08 Giant Trance X1 which was a little out of my budget, but was lucky that the guy had barely ridden the bike and really just wanted to get rid of it.

I haven't been on anything newer than my friend's Enduro (which turns out to be a 2000, not an '04) and this thing is nice! Looking forward to hitting the dirt with it.

Thanks. I would have liked a newer bike (this is already 5 yrs old) but the price of bikes now is crazy!

I might keep the reflectors on for a couple rides just because.

I noticed the reflectors - definitely very low mileage on that bike!

There is still factory protective coating on the rear sprocket set (not worn at all) and nipples on the tires!

And you can tell by the pedals it wasn't ridden much. Doesn't matter how old the bike is if it hasn't been ridden it's still new.

Now go get some dirt on that bike!!!

I got home and the rest of my family was at Disneyland, so I went for a quick ride across the way from my house just to get the setup of the bike started. It's nice...
