And now for the others that did not do a thing so it would not tarnish their Football team.

If you look the other way when someone is getting hurt, it is the same as if you hurt them yourself in my opinion. As for Sandusky, it is too bad that he is too old to enjoy all of the punishment his crimes have earned him.

If you think this was to protect the football team, you're myopic. If anything, the poor response of the Board of Trustees in the wake of this tragedy shows that the first thing they could throw under the bus to save their own asses was the football team. This is about protecting the asses of some of Pennsylvania's most wealthy and influential individuals.

If Governor, then A.G., Tom Corbett knew about half the allegations three years ago, why did his office wait until he was elected governor to prosecute? And yet he pre-booked a hotel room the night of the grand jury report "leak" so he could hold a press conference. Put it another way: how strong would one's prospects of election to office be if he was the person who attacked the flagship of the Commonwealth?

How can the Board of Trustees claim they knew nothing about this until it broke when Harrisburg's newspaper published stories about a grand jury convening in early 2011? Do they want us to believe that none of their general counsel or press arm picked up on this? They knew, or alternatively, you had a group of wealthy and influential individuals who largely were inept.

And with all that time to prepare a response, of any type, instead they make it a football program problem? That's called shifting the focus, and the media ran with it. In the alternative, had the University approached Sandusky as a rogue and individualistic monster, they could have stemmed the tide much like Syracuse did when the Fine accusations came out. But, the Trustees first instinct was to shift blame to the face of the University.

What of the Second Mile, its $600,000 in donations to the Corbett campaign, and its either lack of oversight as to its activities, or its willful ignorance of what its founder was doing? I'll never be convinced that it did not know. And, there are mumbles in the Centre County region that it more than knew. I sincerely hope the federal investigation gets into this. Of course, that's the only stance it can take when you review the names of individuals who serve on its governing board.

Why didn't the A.G. investigate/call as witnesses any Second Mile members of their governing board? Corbett was on their board when the investigation began. Do friends protect friends?

Finally, Joe. I take his words at face value. Why? Because after 60 years of doing good, he's earned my benefit of the doubt. The argument of moral versus legal duty frustrates the hell out of me. I wasn't in the room when McQ told him, and I don't know his precise conversation with Curley. I also don't know what he knew after the fact. But the media, as it does with every sensational event, created the narrative that he "had to have known" and was in some cover up. And yet, there hasn't been a piece of evidence that suggests his problem was anything greater than following University protocol. Was it enough? In Joe's words, with the benefit of hindsight, no. But at the time? I don't know. But until I learn that he knew more, did less, etc., I'll assume that he did what he thought was proper. He's earned that benefit.

...

Obviously I feel passionate about this. First and foremost, to hell with Sandusky. May he receive what he gave. And may the children, now adults, heal and live life. As much as I love my alma mater, I truly hope that its governance goes down in flames. This was not a football program problem. This was not a Joe problem. And this is not a Centre County/community problem (hell, Sandusky's "own" effectively pur him in jail till death.) This is a University problem, despite what the media has portrayed.

There's going to be a domino effect for sure. Heads are going to roll, and rightfully so.
It's just so sad that so many students who go to or graduated from this fine University had to endure all this when it was just a handful who were corrupt. Hat's of to those brave guys that testified.
