My New Explorer...Bursting at the Seams?

I noticed this over the last couple of days: The part of the bumper that butts up against the driver's side fender doesn't want to stay put. I noticed it was sticking out about 1/4" yesterday...I compared it to the other side, and it was flush. So...I pressed it back in, felt it snap into the clips, and thought all was well. But...after driving it only a few miles, I saw it had come out again. I've tried snapping it back in several times now, but it never stays after driving the vehicle. I've made an appointment at my dealer to look at it...they will look at it, but most likely it will have to go to their body shop if the clips need to be replaced.

I've circled where it's popping out in this picture (alas...not my car...LOL). H

Has anyone else experienced this?

This issue was common with the early build 2011 Explorers that had that part popping out. So you're not alone.

LOL Joe! I thought they had nailed that one down long ago. Good thing is, we don't seem to have that issue...yet

Welcome to the boards, OzzieMike; your Explorer is so excited, it’s bursting at the seams to be driven! LOL JK

Seriously though, I’m confident your dealer will take care of it; when is your appointment?

I still have your Explorer’s details from before, dutchman71; let me know via PM and I’ll lend a hand.

Well, my dealer had his service guys look at the issue, and they must have done a better job popping the bumper back in. After popping it back in, they pulled on it, then drove the car on some twisty roads, and it stayed in. I drove it to work, and see that it's still attached properly. (I guess they must have pushed harder on it than I did...but, then again, they'd know better than I exactly how hard it can be pushed before damaging it).

I will update here if it pops out again....my fingers are crossed that it won't.
