Looks neat, if all the phone apps run thru MFT and media playing via speakers as well - its awesome.
Must be a pain to get that module and antennae tucked away.

Neat. Not $429 worth of neat, but neat.

Be careful with CoastalTech, lots of customer service issues if you google them.

I had to send a work "friend" to their Florida office to get some customer service!

Has anyone purchased CoastalTech's new Lockpick Air? With the new one you can stream your phone to your screen.

Without the touchscreen controlling the device, it is kind of worthless, most of the video streaming apps (netflix, hulu, etc) won't work with this, so you don't really gain anything.

Note at the bottom, just to make sure you're aware:

"The Lockpick Air will allow mirroring of your smartphone including all phone displays such as map, internet, pictures, texts, games etc. Videos recorded on your device will stream to the Lockpick however, videos downloaded from iTunes are blocked. Netflix App versions (5.0 and above) will not stream. If your device still has the older Netflix version (4.31 or below) video streaming is still possible. YouTube video streaming is also restricted to Apple TV, but Apps such as PlayTube or Crackle do allow video streaming and are free to download on iTunes. "

This is awesome.
It answers the issues with using aftermarket rear monitors for me.
We currently use wifi video streaming to them but not being able to see them, you never know for sure.
With this, we can preview on MFT then use the remote to send that video to the back.
Or, we could let the kids watch the road in front of us with a front mounted camera, or whatever we wanted.
Can also mount a camera inside facing back as a baby monitor and use remote to bring it up on the screen.

This is genius. I'm pumped! Now just need to get the wife on board which shouldn't be too difficult...

That's apple only.
Android works in all of it's awesomeness because it just casts the screen, nothing funky that's app dependent. We do that already from our tablet to headrest monitors using movies on Vudu.

Ah ha! I think THAT says a lot!

I have this installed in my 2015 Sport. It works great with the Android interface and essentially casts your phone screen to your car. We watch movies and being able to have the family watch a movie from the screen while audio on a 12 speaker system is enjoyable. For you modders out there if you want to add cameras in the front and side, you can have cameras automagically appear on your screen based on your settings you have on the lockpick.

Lastly the most annoying thing I came accross that the lockpick can over ride I having the ability for the passenger to enter in nav directions while you are driving the car. Essentially the lockpick tricks the nav to show the car not moving to unlock the destination button!

Thats awesome. Did you install it or a shop did it? -all hidden away?

Luker,

YEP! My friend did the work who used to be a professional installer back in his day. He was able to tuck it away nicely underneath the steering column with all the wires hidden underneath. The only portion that was left out was the remote sensor which was installed next to the shifter. It was a pretty simple install and plug and play with no issues - it took him all of 20 mins or so to complete it.

Taking our first long haul this upcoming weekend which I plan to put it to good use - so I am looking forward to it.
