4.6 vs 5.0 stock

Every year I take a vacation to visit
family in Arkansas. My brother races a Maverick
and I use to run my '70 Mustang and the local
track which is 1000 ft.
I had a 98 XLt 5.0 ,3.73 locker, K&N drop in,
and everything is was stock because I was leasing
at the time. In 2001 I ran the 98 and ran a
best of 13.76. When a stock fox body is only
running 13.00 flat I thought it was good.
Well my lease ran up and decided to buy a 2002
Xlt 4.6. I work at the dealer in parts so I ordered
it the way I wanted it. With out the bull that I
did'nt wanna pay for. No 3rd row seat ,class 2 towing,
gray cloth interior and such, w/ 3.55 gears.
In July 2002 I went back to the track. It ran a 13.01!!
No mods at all. Since I have put K&n open element,
Edelbrock RPM muffler and increased to 2.5 pipe.,
and 3.73's w/ traction lock. I think it will be in the
high 12's now. I'll let anybody know thats interested. :D

Did you make a couple typo's, high 12's in a 4.6 Explorer with a few bolt on's, 13's in a stock 5.0 Explorer?????

The 4.6 is good for mid 15's, our 5.0 Mountaineer was good for a 16.1 in the 1/4.

I hope your joking lol

Ahhh....thats better, I thought he said the track was at 1000ft (altitude)

My bad Murdoch, I thought it was a typo or something b/c he has an other post with his truck running a mid 15 which is dead on for a 4.6 Explorer.

Sorry bro, I shall now go sit in a corner with my "dumbazz" hat on
