'96 Explorer XLT - I've got a bunch of door lock issues and need help ASAP.
First - The rear hatch locks/latches will not engage anymore, leaving me with a DOOR AJAR light on and therefore leaving me with NO ANTI THEFT system and over $1500 unsecured audio/video. I know that most of the hatch mechanism is rusted and worn, but what should i start replacing first? Any ideas what Ford would charge to overhaul the complete hatch lock mechanism? :fire:
Second - i've got no autolock system anymore. Put it in drive and nothing. Ideas?? This happened well after the issue above - i know that if the hatch is open/ajar the autolock system will not engage.
Third - the driver & passenger switches do not lock the doors anymore, but they will UNlock the doors. The rear quarterpanel switch locks & unlocks just fine. I know that the actuators are fine (except the hatch, but i don't care about that right now). However, the drivers lock switch still illuminates the antitheft light, so i think the switch itself is fine, but because the hatch doesn't latch i've got no protection.
The second & third are somehow related and happened (simultaneously) days before my tranny went ka-PUT. :frustrate
