98 explorer w/no reverse-ideas to fix without rebuild

1998 stock Explorer Sport 4X4 with the v-6 motor, but no reverse at all. Have reverse lights but no movement. I just bought this and no money for a new trany. Anything I can try, do, or check with out doing a R&R of the trany??

I have a 93 explorer 4wd automatic and it doesnt want to shift into high gear and sluggish i replace the gasket what could be wrong

reverse band probably has broken. its a common thing. if you dont count pulling the trans out, and have a manual (do a search for 5r55e trans manual on here and you should be able to find one) it should take around 2 hours to fix.
