Just get a shaft..rebuilding cv is tough..balls and sockets wear..you need to match sizes or grind sockets to spec like in a rebuilders plant...
 


















Looks as though the CV head is replaceable. The driveline shop I went to told me that the head was welded to the shaft... Looks like they may have been wrong. I may have to get one soon...
 






Just digging up an old thread trying to find the info... Didn't you do this successfully and do a write-up on it? If so, I can't seem to find it and need it ASAP...

FWIW, I found a seller in Georgia on Ebay who is selling the parts. Looks like it should be a pretty straightforward job. I suspect I'll see the part early next week and will take some pics as I go.
