Just got an Explorer North Face but no key fob.

Just got an Explorer North Face but no key fob - SOLVED !

Can I just purchase a new ebay fob and program it ?
I am not sure what type of fob it needs - 2, 3 or 4 button and can it be programmed without the original fob ?

This is my 2nd Explorer in as many months lol - I love them although this North Face is a very low milage example and is in great condition so I could not resist it

Let me preface this reply by saying im on my phone so can't really get the full info.

But if you search "programming fob" then you will find many threads!

Iirc you will need the 2 button and this can only be program med at ford. It may be cheaper to buy the fobs and control box from a breaker if you are handy enough to fit it. Again a search would give you all the info you need.
As far as I know in the UK we had the 1 button for 96/97 and 2 button for 98 on.

I bought a 2 button transit fob. Programmed it myself. Got the info from here. If not a proper locksmith can do it. Got my key done by a shop in southend, tried a cheap key, but that didn't work. Had to be a Ford key

Just a quick update guys. Ordered a new 3 button keyfob from these guys.

Followed the instructions in the listing and I now have a working keyfob !
Dont forget this was from a car I purchased WITHOUT one.
