2002 explorer timming done but now will only run 5 mins

Ok so just did the timing guides chain's ect. Bought the tool set the timing ,by the way this is the 4.0 shoc . This took me 3 weeks do to lack of time and ordering parts.now when i start it,it will run for about 5 mins get running rough and die if i try to start it,it will start and die right away unless i give it gas this is all with the temp at half way if i let it sit for 10 to 20 mins same thing all over again i have cleaned the iac and even bought a new one and a pcv no change,now when the timing cassettes broke it also cracked the valve cover near the cam sensor about 3 inchs from it i used jb weld on the cover any ideas? i have not taken it for a drive yet in fear i wont get it back home

Took it for a drive today drove good great powerr however trans is shifting hard i did lose about a half quart of fluid when i pulled the trans cooler can this be the cause?

Could be. Why would you run the transmission when you know you lost fluid?
