the door tag says "manufactured 11/97 " for all purposes we have considered it a 98. I put a new Valve Body gasket on it and it is not working good at all. Is there a number or tag with a number on the transmission I can use to cross reference what VB gasket is the right one? I really need to get this one back up and running soon.... PLEASE HELP.. Thanks

Look down at the bottom of that door tag near the right corner and you'll see a space that says TR. The letter under that is your trans code. Hope this helps.

There are only two separator plates, one for the 4R44/55E and one for the 5R55E, the gaskets should be universal. All you really have to do is check and see if any of the holes in plate are covered. Obviously no holes should be covered and the gasket that has the reverse servo section on it should go against the case.

Are you sure you have the check balls and "L" retainers in the right places?

Also if you leave out the small puck with the small hole in it, it will slip in forward and reverse.

Center support bolt tight?
