Whinning noise while in park

I have a 92 Explorer and it is making this strange whinning or whirring sound. I thought that it only happened when I put on my brakes and came to a complete stop, but now I have found out that it make the noise while in park with the engine running. It doesn't seem like it is really in the engine more like under it. I can really hear it on the inside with the windows up. If anyone can help identify the probelm I would really appriciate it.

just a shot in the dark but try turning the wheel back and forth ,its not unusual for us to have noisy power steering pumps.

thanks for the reply, but I just got the power steering pump changed, thought I could have gotten a bad one. The sound isn't coming from the pump though.

If anyone else has any ideas as what to the sound or problem is feel free to post. I would like to figure out what it is before something really bad happens.
